Im kind of inthe middle when it comes to this property. When I first walked in the room I was overwhelmed with the smell of bleach. It was very clean I must say. The exterior was a little dirty as far as the walkways. The neon type sign for the property were missing lots of bulbs. The parking was $22 a night and was very tight & very limited. One night I came back from an event and had no parking space and the hotel cleark had to move her car. The room was good size and the bed & pillows were wonderful. I had clean linens except one towel was really ragged. The air conditioner was nice & cool. The room had nice built in type toiletries and the water was nice & hot in the shower. The staff were friendly and the room was cute but I think could use a little refresh. The moon pies, Rc cola & donuts in the morning were delicious. Over all a good stay. I think the property could use a little renovation and it would be perfect

Loved our stay at the Thunderbird Inn. The front desk staff was terrific. I loved the moon pies and RC colas that were waiting for us in our room upon check-in. The location was great and walking distance to most of the tourist attractions. I would stay there again.

I liked the retro look of the hotel! The RC colas and the moonpies were an awesome touch. And the donuts in the lobby were out of this world!! The only downside was no cable. The Trolly station was just a few steps down which was really convenient!

Cute Mid-Century Motel but beware of TV situation

The Thunderbird Inn was a cute mid-century motel. It was conveniently located and served our needs but it’s still a motel with minimum amenities. They offered a fresh variety of donuts every morning and popcorn and lemonade in the afternoons/evenings. The shower water pressure and temperature was good but the shower and bathroom were small. The biggest negative was no live TV and you had to stream from a smart from to the TV but the WiFi was terrible which caused continuous frustration trying to just watch a simple show. This must be fixed or they’ll lose busy. Also, the walls are super thin and not sound proof at all. We could literally hear the gentleman next door breathing and this was uncomfortable! I recommend they invest in at least some sound proofing between rooms. Overall, it was an okay stay.

Staff was great! Towels were plush and the bed was comfortable. Affordable spot with convenient location for Savannah. The door stuck every time I tried to open it was the only annoying part of the stay.

Our stay overall was ok, not great. Considering how expensive Savannah can be on the weekends, I suppose the Thunderbird Inn provides relatively good value. The location is great, the amenities in the lobby were great, and music playing around the grounds is fun. Not so great: the front desk staff lacked basic customer service training in politeness and friendliness. No Hello's or Welcome's or eye contact at check in. We were given a room on the ground floor behind the office. The area outside our door was dark and dingy. Our room was tired and worn out. Stains on the countertop, dust on the fixtures and AC, and the bathroom grout needed a deep cleaning. Can’t give more than 3 stars. It is what it is.

Conveniently located next to city tour trolley service and historic district. Clean and good rooms in a retro motel. Excellent complimentary donuts in office and moonpies on pillows. Downside was an undisclosed $22 parking charge and no cable or satellite tv service. ( only way to watch tv was to cast our own streaming app program from our phone) . Traffic noise quite loud and a/c unit fan didn’t mask it.

If you’re looking for a place that is no thrills, clean and safe. This is it. I do agree with some of the other comments. The floors do need a good cleaning. I will be staying sporadically in Savannah the next year and will stay here without hesitation.
