Great location. Short walk from Bencoolen street MRT and several others nearby. Concierge very helpful. However on arrival female receptionist repeatedly and loudly asked myself and my same sex partner if we required separate beds. I answered that we did not require separate beds (we had booked a double room NOT a twin room) but she then repeated the question- I began to think she had a problem with our answer. Not a pleasant experience on arrival! My advice to her is not to make assumptions and give people what they book!! We were paying for a service after all!! All the other staff we encountered on reception during our stay for 3 nights were friendly and helpful so it was a shame she was the first staff member we met as this left us with a very poor impression. The gym and pool were ok - not very modern but fit for purpose. This hotel lets itself down on a lack of attention to detail in the standard room - we ordered a standard Queen. Grubby carpets, marks on walls, skirting boards and furniture. The bathroom was adequate with some decent water pressure in the shower. We booked it because it was one of the cheapest we could find and it was very near MRTs near the tourist hotspots. So, if things like grubbiness don’t bother you I’m sure you’ll like it.

The place was pretty tired. Ripped carpet in the hall ways. The rooms were very tired and the furniture quite worn. Good for an overnight work trip but not great for a family holiday or longer stay.

The MRT rail system is right there at the hotel, very convenient however the rail system is closed during the night and the first train available to the airport doesn’t start until 06:30am.

pleasant experience

I've been to this hotel several times over the years and this was by far the best experience I've had there. I had a "club" room which seemed to be renovated not too long ago. It was spacious, bright and well decorated with enough drawer space to fully unpack and put my stuff away for a 5 night stay. The concierge staff were all extremely helpful as were the reception. I will definitely return on my next visit to Singapore.

Great central hotel to stay in the Colonial district. The rooms are big and the rates are reasonable for such a central location. The staff were friendly and helpful and there are so many dining options in walking distance. The MRT is on the doorstep so going further afield was very convenient.

The spacious room provided ample comfort, while the hotel's prime location downtown near the MRT station and bus stop made it incredibly convenient. The highlight of our stay was the warm jacuzzi by the pool, which offered the perfect spot to unwind.
