Property Truths
Although a favorite of most guests, this property might not be a fit for demanding travelers. It's professionally cleaned, laundry is washed at 140°, we have the top fiber-optic cable available in the area, it has a generator, and our heating system is under 10yrs old and regularly serviced. However, it's also a historic house in a rural setting with rooms the caliber of the “popular” historic Equinox Hotel in Manchester. The furnishings are primarily antique and antiques are old. The floors creek and the windows can be hard to open. The kitchen dining area can feel cramped for groups greater than 10. The cable and Wi-Fi as mentioned, are the best in the area, but the best in this area is not as good as where you come from. If what I'm telling you sounds charming, and most guests do find it charming, then I'm sure you will love this house.

Location
A favorite with initiated travelers and truly Vermont at its best! Perfectly located in the shire of Weston with grazing cows on one side and the West River on the other. You get amazing star gazing, mineral water straight from the faucet into your coffee tea or bath and no stoplights, but with high-speed WIFI, paved roads, cell-service, a grocer, a liquor store, and incredible shopping skiing and dining. Ski five top mountains 10-miles to Okemo, 8-miles to Magic, 11-miles to Bromley, 18-miles to Stratton, and 13-miles to both VAST and Appalachian Trail. Shop at the world famous original Vermont Country Store less than 1-mile away or 40 Manchester retailers just 14 miles away. Eat at four Michelin quality restaurants and find 12 more family-friendly eats within 10 miles. Fly-fishing, hiking, skiing, biking trails, theatre, and even Benedictine Monks at Weston Priory are also nearby! Grounds feature perennials, apple trees, stone walls, swimming pool, an old barn, and scenic vistas at every turn. Just a short walk to the Weston Theatre Company and the original Vermont Country Store.

History
The Apple Knoll was built in 1830 and first used as a sheep farm. It's a Georgian style timber frame house with views of the West River, shire of Weston, and Mounts Tabor Mansfield and Equinox. In the year built, Merino wool prices spiked to 50 cents a pound and VT experienced the “Great Torrent”, the worst flooding in a century. Over the next 30 years Vermont saw its first railroad, spread of the abolitionist movement, a booming economy first in agriculture then forestry mining and manufacturing, and outbreak of the Civil War.

Beautiful place

Our family stayed at Apple Knoll inn for a week. The inn is huge with everything you need. I love the fact that each room had its own bathroom and there were enough towels in the house. Make sure to take your shampoo and body wash. The kids really enjoyed the pool. A lot annoying bugs around. Overall, we had a great time and would love to be back.

Winter Wonderland

Apple Knoll Inn has become a favorite of my family and me. The property is spacious, beautifully decorated and well appointed with everything you need. Aside from that it is a pleasure to work with Daniel. He is perhaps the most accommodating host that I have ever had. Would recommend any of his properties wholeheartedly to anyone.

Unique Vermont Experience

Owner was super responsive and helpful from the start. Property is as described, and views are spectacular. House was a little dusty, but had been cleaned recently - just an older home so to be expected. There were a LOT of flies and other friendly bug critters in the house - I think the doors must have been left open prior to our stay, so we had to do a bit of exterminating. Kitchen is beautiful and modern, would stay again.

Perfect place for a family celebration

My family and I rented the Apple Knoll Inn for a long weekend celebration of my father's 80th birthday. The Inn itself was immaculate and comfortably housed 10 of us for the weekend, especially because every room has its own bathroom! There are enough living spaces for people to find a quiet corner to read a book. The kitchen is fabulous and very well equipped - perfect for cooking meals for a group. We thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor spaces including the deck, the fire pit and the pool, which was appropriately "refreshing" for Vermont. Weston is an adorable, though tiny, town nearby. Ludlow, Chester and Londonderry are not far, so there are plenty of places to explore. I'd highly recommend this property and hope we can return again.

Perfect getaway

Loved staying here, perfect getaway from the city. We stayed with extended family and loved every minute, great location, just minutes from lots of trails & hikes. We loved to star gaze in the backyard at night while sitting around the fire pit. Everything was as described, our trip was perfect. Thanks!

Great value! Beautiful kitchen and property

I stayed here with a big group looking to snowboard at Okemo. The location is great; it's secluded on a big plot of land, but still close to town and only 15 minutes away from the mountain. The space was beautiful and the kitchen was wonderfully renovated. It made group meals incredible. Within the rental, there's lots of space for groups to get together. Everyone especially loved the numbers of bathrooms and how each bathroom is attached to a bedroom in addition to a common bathroom. Would stay again!

Amazing Flexibility with Host

Host was VERY accommodating with our stay requests. Home was spacious. We had 14 people in the main house that could have fit more if people shared beds. Cottages were good and house was great. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

Great place for large gatherings

Each bedroom has its own bathroom, plenty of sitting and dinning space, and a large kitchen for cooking with nice appliances. The house is old some comes with character but could use a touch up here and there but overall charming. Beds were comfortable and everything was clean upon arrival. Large lawn and great fire pit. Amenities were good-only thing missing was a pot scrubber and some pans need to be replaced but overall great space for large group or family with plenty of private space as well as areas for gathering.

A mixed review

Property in beautiful are is somewhat run down. Some essentials missing such as soap in bathrooms, matches, kitchen towels. Kitchen is updated but ice maker broken. Despite drawbacks we enjoyed a family reunion for the 1st time in 18 months because of Covid restrictions - especially our time around the fire pit.

We had an amazing family vacation at Dan's gorgeous Vermont Home. The children (and adults) had a blast sledding down the hill and snowboarding at the mountain. The house was spacious, yet very cozy. Would wholeheartedly recommend this property for family fun!
