Royal Kona Resort
"I booked the Royal Kona at the spur of the moment based on photos and price and unfortunately didn't read the reviews. As I drove up to the property I could see significant roof damage which had not been repaired for a long time. As I was walking to the entrance I saw a koi pond and thought this place may not be so bad. The 'koi pond' or whatever you wan to call it is overgrown with algae and large patches floating on the top of the water. I found a few poor fish, not sure what species they are, but they are suffering in this filth. I will be contacting PETA. The overall public reception area is extremely tired, outdated and falling apart. I read there are two restaurants and was looking forward to a nice relaxing dinner. The only open restaurant is a sandwich shop basically. I had NO hot water in my room sink, shower was tired but worked and had hot water. I have nothing good to say about this property except it sits on an awesome a beautiful area, right on the ocean. Someone needs to take over this 'resort', demolish it and make it into a TRUE Hawaiian resort. This was my first time to KOA and I do not know how other resorts are but I highly suggest you save your bucks on this place, it's disgusting."
