Altland House Inn and Suites
"If you'd like to stay next to a highway with a steady stream of big rigs going by from early in the morning until late at night, all using their air brakes to slow down for the roundabout, this is the place for you. Don't think about peace and quiet, there isn't any. This is an ancient building located in the center of traffic. It was a mistake to stay there. We don't recommend it for any reason unless you don't need sleep. Now, the antique nature of the building is "cute" but not practical. The "continental breakfast" was an afterthought by the management. Nothing hot, just a muffin, yogurt, and coffee. We drove to Hanover to get breakfast. Now, as to the bathroom. This is its own disaster. Imagine a claw foot tub that belongs in a museum and you have it. It's huge, has an extremely slick finish and is not safe if you try to climb in and expect NOT to slip and fall. It may look pretty, but it's not safe. The shower is another experience. The walls have no shelves... nothing. You need to leave the shampoo and soap outside or put it on the floor... your choice. The bathroom sink is huge, but there is no countertop space around it. What a joke! It's all for looks, not functionality, same as the shower. Getting hot water is another challenge, run the water in the sink for at least 5 minutes to get it warmed up. Then, if you come back an hour later, you'll need to repeat that drill. The hot water in the shower takes another 5 minutes or longer. What a joke!"
