The one person room was great with all I needed but of course the narrow steps in an old building in Amsterdam are sort of a challenge even though they have an elevator (very slow) up to the second floor.

Great hotel with excellent facilities. Locatioknnis ideal with only 5 min walk to the centre. Nice and clean and rooms look like they have been recently refurbished. Would definitely use the hotel again.

Ok hotel near Central Station

Pros: Location, big bed
Cons: Sewerage problem in basement rooms
Location: Walking distance to red light district and museums
The hotel itself was easy to find only a 5 minute or so walk from Central station. We where given a room in the basement which meant our view was of another wall.... The room itself was a good size with a nice comfortable bed and nice bathroom. The issue however was that every so often the sewerage would bubble up through the shower drain and make the whole room stink of excrement! When I mentioned this to the staff on the front desk they suggested we run the water for a while... this did nothing and the room still smelt really bad- luckily we didnt stay in the room long. The walls are very thin too so can be quite noisy. On the last night in Amsterdam my phone was pick pocketed on the way back to the hotel, when I asked the reception staff for help on how to report the crime they where not very helpful at all and acted like this was normal and I should just get over it! The hotel itself was in a good location, easy walk into town etc and if the rooms didnt smell I would recommend. Maybe the upstairs rooms are better.

Excellent

The hotel was excellent, very stylish ,welcoming and great value. The room was very clean ,comfortable ,warm and the shower room was trendy and clean. Breakfast was always very nice with a good choice of food. The room was a great base for our holiday and would recommend to anyone and would use again in the future.

Pros: location
At first, when we arrived, we received a room that did not suit us. After we went to the staff, we received the next day another room that was more spacious, clean and pleasant for us

Hotel Library, Amsterdam

Location very good, very close to train station and only a 10 minute walk to Dam Square. Staff were friendly and welcoming to start with but then seemed to lose interest and weren't exactly helpful (twice we asked for are room safe to be sorted so we could use it and nothing happened even though we were promised 100 it will be sorted by the next morning and when it came to printing our boarding passes they were totally unhelpful meaning we had to get them at the airport). The room was clean and ok for size but was situated on the lower ground floor at the rear of the building with a staircase alongside the room, so every time someone used them it was very noisy and we could also hear everything from the above room, so I'm guessing they have used little or no sound proofing, the windows were above head height and didn't open so the room got very stuffy/dry causing us to suffer with sore throats, the curtains were ridiculously long with spare overlapping on the floor which caused a problem at the end of the bed as there was only about 40cm gap between bed and wall, there was no heating on when we arrived hence the room was very cold and the bathroom window had no curtain/blind whatsoever meaning that the over-looking room opposite could look in on us whilst we were naked. On the plus side about the room the bed was large and comfortable, the bathroom was very clean with a huge shower with an ipod docking station and free Wi-Fi. We stayed in room number 815.
