There was not a shower curtain in the shower-I had to go ask for one. It just didn't feel clean throughout. No attention to corners, etc. There were no plugs in the drains, which was weird-keep an eye on what might fall in! The check-in person was friendly enough, but very slow. The breakfast isn't a breakfast, and there is nowhere to eat the prepackaged muffin...if you wanted to, ha. I think the topper was when she reached behind her and handed me a wadded up shower curtain, and said, "Oh, sorry."

The building was old but well taken care of and huge. It was a nice room, and the bed/pillows were very comfortable. I cooked in the room. The refrigerator was a good with a spacious separate spacious freezer. The staff was wonderful. I wanted to check-in early and they let me bring my stuff to my room at 9:00am so I could visit Carlsbad Caverns without a full car. I also asked what the most popular things were to do in and around Carlsbad, and they looked for handouts to give to me including a map of the area. They were super sweet. In fact, it was probably the nicest staff I have ever come across at a hotel!

The office is very run down, check in took forever, hair was present in the shower, which was not ours, the sink did not drain in our room at all, had to brush our teeth in the tub, booked a king room, got 2 queen beds instead, continental breakfast was terrible, muffins and juice from a jug that had to be poured into a cup, not individual ones, terrible pillows, flimsy sheets and blanket on bed, just not a great experience at all.

Great value, we enjoyed a large, clean, comfy room that had all the amenities we needed at a great price. Friendly staff, too. They have what looks like almost a mini water park out front, for warmer days (we were traveling in January), so a nice perk for families, and close to the Carlsbad Caverns, which is why we were there.

We were given a 2nd floor room even though a first floor room was requested at reservation. Hotel was not full and they had plenty of ground level rooms available. Not sure why the check in clerk insisted all she had was 2nd floor rooms. Room could use updating. Heater barely kept room warm.
