I’ve stayed at Basecamp South Lake twice a year for business and always had great experiences — until this recent trip. Unfortunately, my reservation was lost, and the front desk staff showed no empathy or willingness to help. Their attitude was essentially, “it’s not our problem,” and they refused to work with the website I used to resolve the issue. I was left without a room and had to find another hotel at the last minute. Sadly, after years of staying here, I’ll be looking for a different place for future visits.

The room was ok, with lots of space to sleep for a family. The parking was a bit tight, especially when there was a rock concert nearby and we couldn't find parking. Walkable distance to the lake and to the street with lots of restaurants and shopping.

For the price, it was okay. The room smelled funky and it was too warm. With no AC, I tried to keep the windows open, but there was music playing pretty loudly. I think the place is maybe better suited to a younger clientele. I stayed at the Tahoe City property and it was better. I won’t stay here again. I’ll splurge for a nicer place with better amenities.

This stay was amazing. Has a camping feel with all the hotel amenities. Friendly staff and room were perfect. The brewery and fire pits made it so fun. The only small complaint is the shower head needed to be cleaned or replaced as the water did not come out right. Other than that the stay was excellent.

Cons: Tight parking. Rooms a little dated. Bed has center indentation making it a somewhat painful night. Pros: Quiet area. Rooms are pretty sound proof considering that was a live band nearby and we couldn't hear much of it. The family room is quite large with good amount of space for a family of 5. The price was good for a Sunday night compared to the other hotels.
