2 Nights in LA

3 problems: 1) The switch on the floor lamp was broken. 2) The water pressure in the shower was MUCH too high. The water streaming out of the rain shower head felt like needles hitting your skin. 3) The sockets at the base of the lamp on the nightstand were not tight enough to hold electric plugs in place. The plugs fell out of the sockets.

Although the lobby and public areas are quite extravagant and lovely, the guest rooms are very very outdated. Extremely small bathroom, old fixtures and bathtub faucet that dripped. Finding the parking garage was a bit difficult initially and then we were shocked by the $50 per night charge for parking. Save your money and just visit the lobby to see the historic beauty of those areas, but skip staying overnight.

The hotel was gorgeous. The vintage atmosphere and architectural details of the hotel were beautiful. It’s a shame that the rest of downtown LA is filthy and smells of urine.

Unique architectural gem, right in historic Downtown LA. Great location for exploring by foot & transit. Somewhat limited restaurant choice and close to Skid Row, but it felt safe enough to me

Beware- especially for a special occasion, the hotel DOES NOT let you take pictures anywhere in the lobby or on the property without paying a $350 fee! Even if you are a guest! Security will immediately stop you. I think this is insane and I did not see that disclaimer before booking. My son and husband stayed there overnight to be closer to his prom venue. We had to sneak photos. Insane! I get it if you’re coming to take wedding photos or something elaborate but zero picture taking is allowed. They even have a wing backdrop for IG and you can’t take a pic there without paying the fee. Other notes-Property is historic so it’s outdated and so are the rooms. There was hair all over the room and bathroom. The history of the hotel is cool but the bar was outrageously expensive. For 2 drinks and fries the bill was $90 and they automatically added 20% tip. Beautiful old hotel but don’t expect to even take a family photo without getting yelled at.
