Just shy of perfect

Our room was quite comfortable it had the perfect space and furniture. We stayed in the main building and enjoyed the charm, pool and bikes. I typically will not stay in hotels rated good but the reviews were mixed with complimentary tones. The hotel is just shy of being excellent. Mostly, the linens are tired and need replacing as well as more provided. The robes were both small and lacking luster, if they fit we would not have worn them. The towels were not hotel towels, including pool towels. Our room had one glass provided, I had brought my own and assumed when cleaned that would change but no other glasses were delivered. The garbage can and tissue holder were peeling plastic. One of the under side tables had a malfunction tripping light. I would recommend the hotel and the location. Covina and Reunion Food and kitchen were great finds in a short walking distance. The hotel drinks and breakfast food were yummy.

I love the beach being across the street. I appreciate the checking-in staff, she was great. I also appreciate the wooden chips you get which give you $10 off drinks! I just wished the hotel would have had a bigger pool space to lay out. It was hard to get a chair, specially since the hotel is as big as it is or have a second pool. The other part was somewhat disappointed was dining options around the hotel since most of the were 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 mile away which are not walking distance.

The room was spacious, but the furniture setup could be improved. The closet was so close to the side of the bed that there was not enough room to open the closet door. The cushion on the sofa in the room had a nasty stain, and the room felt damp and stuffy.

I was happy with our stay. I loved the hotel’s Spanish revival charm and its food/drink amenities. Our room and bed was very comfortable but the “ocean view” feature was actually more of a small window view of the pool and raising the blinds would have infringed on our privacy. Overall, however, I give the hotel a high rating. It’s lovely.

This was our first time to Santa Barbara. We had the most amazing time! The hotel room was beautiful. The location was perfect. They had free bikes that we rode along the beach to the pier. The staff was friendly and courteous. The only tiny issue was the pillow cases were not soft at all but otherwise everything was fantastic

It’s a nice property in a quiet location. Our room was great and centrally located in the Santa Cruz building. We were on the bottom floor, ocean side, and had an extended balcony with a wonderful sitting area. This was a perfect hang out spot for our family of four. The website claims that you cannot put rollaway beds in the rooms, and I was a bit concerned having two teenagers with us on our stay. But the moment we arrived, we asked for a rollaway and they delivered one within 15 minutes. Not sure what the actual policy is around that, but we were thrilled to have the extra bed. We were able to secure bikes for daytime adventures every day, but unfortunately, we’re never able to secure pool chairs until later in the evening. It was Fourth of July weekend and the property was packed so people claimed everything first thing in the morning. This meant that we weren’t able to have much pool time, but spent most of our time at the beach right across the street anyway. We also had trouble getting the free beach chairs, and were only able to secure one. Luckily, we had brought along two of our own so it wasn’t a problem. The staff was very accommodating and the property was well appointed. overall we enjoyed our stay and I would stay there again.
