My stay at the Golden Nugget was a great disappointment. The room I had did not have a desk or table to set a computer on to work. In 2025 many workers can work remotely or work extra while on vacation, but the set up at the Golden Nugget was not good. The mattress was very much worn out. The edge was so flattened out that lying on the bed caused me to slide out of the bed because it was so thinned out and without support. The worst thing is the heating and AC system is far outdated. Apparently, if the heat is on in the building the AC for the room could not be turned on and vice versa. I had a fan on the floor blowing the air around the room but the temperature hovered from 74 to 79 degrees all the time. At times it was so bad, I had to open the door to the room hoping some of the cold air drafting up the elevator would find its way into my room. See the attached file of the poster on the wall below the thermostat. Turning the fan on blew the hot air around the room and the windows did not open. The stay here was so bad, I left a day early just to get out of the hotel. I had two rooms and lost the money for the early check out because the GN is not willing to reimburse when the reservation comes from Expedia (Hotels.com).

Disappointed & Tired

Our stay was disappointing to say the least. Coming into this trip, we knew that the hotel was under renovation. However, we didn’t know just how crappy the hotel was. The room was clean, but everything was outdated and old. The bed was super uncomfortable, with only two mediocre pillows on the entire king-sized bed. The shower head was garbage, and the bathroom sink had the weakest water pressure known to man. The room was insanely warm, there is no adjustable temperature in the rooms. The AC fan in the room was obnoxious and provided more noise than it did air circulation. The only saving grace was the window cracked, and the snowy air was able to seep into the stuffy room. We were notified during our stay via a piece of paper slipped under our door that the water would be shut off for maintenance in the middle of the night. No big deal, except for the fact that dirty brown water continuously spewed out of the faucet and the shower every time we turned it on the rest of the trip. Also, the water pressure got worse. The hotel lobby was dirty and the casino was lame. The outside of the hotel is old and dated, and the inside still has HardRock decor. They even charge for water bottles inside the rooms, but we brought our own. The hotel was cheap, (except for the $20 a day parking) and it did its job as a place to sleep, but we are definitely not coming back, even once it is renovated.

The property is under construction and desperately in need of repairs. The entrance is a mess and makes the hotel look closed. No valet or luggage service and the list goes on.

We liked the smaller casino setting (compared to the surrounding casinos) and overall clean environment. The restaurant there are good. There were few black jack tables, parking wasn't free for us, despite staying there two nights, and dinning, gambling there. No arcade for our son, we had to go to Harvey's for that.
