The property was a welcoming place after staying in a small apartment in Dole. The owners are two real gentlemen and I have thoroughly enjoyed their company. And so has my dog, who loves them! The accommodations are nice and completely adequate, including the kitchen, living room, and bedroom furnishings, and linens. The location was excellent for me because each day there were the numerous small streets at the Chateau Duras, less than a mile away, to walk with my dog and enjoy strolling through the shops there. It is very quiet here although there is a busy street behind a huge, almost solid row of trees hiding the street completely. The plantings and lawn suffered from the prolonged heat spell, but being a gardener, I could tell the surrounds were well cared for and contributed to the delight of this getaway.

A Relaxing Getaway

The renovated barn with two bedrooms, a large living room, bath, laundry room, and kitchen was a welcome relief after our days of sightseeing. The kitchen was well equipped with what was needed to fix meals and snacks. The outdoor area was full of interesting plants and trees and plenty of room for my dog to run and play. The two owners are wonderful to be around and cared that our stay was satisfactory. Although it is somewhat close to a road, there are massive bushes hiding view of the road and a large expanse of grass and trees between the accommodations and the road. There is plenty of parking, and inside the accommodations, there was little to no noise from the road. The laundry facilities are in a separate room and offer all that one would need. In all, it made our stay in Duras a wonderful one.

Spacious and comfortable throughout. Standard of cleanliness needed improvement. Only cursory instructions given for tv. Electricity was tripped about 10 times when oven was switched on. Useful laundry room, good shower with plenty of hot water. Could be wonderful with some improvements. We did enjoy our stay.

Perfectly Situated for your Dordogne Holiday

Perfectly charming French farmhouse vibe. The owners are kind and thoughtful. When we mentioned a desire for morning coffee, they went out and bought a new coffeemaker for our use. Comfortable beds in the home, which is well equipped with linens and other items to make your stay a pleasant one. Convenient to a grocery store which has everything one might need. We enjoyed our stay!

A property oozing with character and charm .

Wonderful hosts. Property only 2km from the centre-ville of Duras with proximity to many historical villages, bastides and castles of this beautiful region of France. Very spacious with tasteful furniture and excellently appointed. Charming patio in a large private garden.

Duras, par excellence

The hosts were as congenial as ever. We have stayed here before and will do so again. The gite is well-appinted, in lovely grounds. Great base for visiting the Dordogne......Duras is a lovely bastide town. Difficult to do anything but praise glowingly.

Very pleasant stay in an old French house.

Comfortable bed and nice towels. The accomodation is the old barn attached to the house and has high ceilings and large rooms. Lovely garden and outside space in which to relax.

Un oasis de saleté...

Un séjour qui s'annonçait agréable, calme et reposant... mais c'était sans compter les 2h de ménages à l'arrivée dans la maison pour nous permettre de juste poser quelques affaires pour vivre. Que la maison ne soit pas brillante de propreté à l'arrivée, pas de souci, c'est une maison en campagne, donc les toiles d'araignées c'est tout à fait normal. Mais par contre devoir nettoyer les réfrigérateurs car ils n'ont pas dûs être nettoyés depuis de nombreux mois, la vaisselle à relaver, les miettes sur la table, la poussière et saletés diverses en abondance par terre par contre ce n'est clairement pas normal. Les toilettes qui n'ont pas été nettoyées avec des traces douteuses sur l'ensemble du pied, le mobilier très sale dans la salle de bain et dans toutes les pièces... franchement un abus. Nous avons comprit pourquoi le prix était aussi "bas" pour un plein mois d'août. Les draps et serviettes de bain étaient propres, pas de souci. Enfin concernant le calme, le jardin est très agréable mais collé à une route tout de même "assez" passante, mais pas un réel problème. Bref, un stop de 4j décevant que je ne recommande clairement pas. Si les propriétaires avaient fait le travail de ménage il aurait prit une toute autre valeur. Déçu !

Pleasant place

We enjoyed our stay in Duras. We were warmly welcomed by our hosts. The appartment is nicely cool, a plus when it is very warm in the daytime. The appartment is spacious and well equiped. Duras is a good starting point for daytrips to the beautiful bastides in the region. In all, a positive experience.

Nous avons passé 3 nuits dans ce gîte, car c’est proche de notre famille. Cela nous a permit de les voir tout en étant indépendant. Le logement est grand et il y a tout ce qu’il faut. Le cadre est agréable, bien qu’un peu proche d’une route toute droite assez passante. L’espace de vie est grand et les chambres spacieuses. Le ménage n’est pas parfait ( toiles d’araignées un peu partout) mais dans l’ensemble c’etait bien. Nous retenons quand même cette adresse car le village est sympathique , et la maison et la terrasse agréables. Les propriétaires sont gentils et discrets. Merci!

Gîte parfait pour des vacances.

Adorables propriétaires, attentionnés, délicats et discrets. La terrasse est parfaite pour prendre vos repas et profiter des alentours fleuris. Gîte très calme à proximité du village de Duras, où vous pourriez visiter un très joli château. Nous vous conseillons le spectacle de sons et lumières qui a lieu le soir.

Lovely house

We had a great stay in this house and loved the way it was decorated. Ian took good care of us and some first needed staples were in the fridge. But the house is not an oasis of tranquility if you are enjoying the great terrace outside since it is located on very busy road and the garden is in front of the house and not in the back where you would not notice it. Also the house is not quite finished yet it needs some painting to make it a fantastic house. We really loved our stay, the beds were really good even thoug they had the usuals frnech size. We loved the town ofDuras which is close by. But we really enjoyed our stay.
