Out of the city centre set in parkland. Big hotel, best in Newcastle back in the day, showing it's age a bit but well looked after . Breakfast very ordinary.

Not impressed

Very 1990's-esque. The hotel was fairly cleab and tidy, but very tired and basic. The wifi did not work in the part of the hotel that i was in. None of the room plugs were accessible without pulling the desk away from the wall, which was very frustrating. The bed was generally comfortable but the pillows were awful - solid foam blocks that offered no comfort whatsoever. The final topper was the aerobics class somewhere outside my window at 6.30am. Blaring music and an enthusiastic instructor with a mic was most unwelcome. I thought I'd awoken to a rave. Breakfast was pleasant, but wouldn't stay here again.

The room I had was tiny and a good 10 minute walk - to the basement- away from reception. I’ve stayed in this hotel many times, and although it’s a bit dated now, its always been a pleasant stay. It looked like they have converted either old offices or storage space into bedrooms. The room was just about ok for one person and the bathroom was decent enough but not sure they have done much with sound proofing as I could here next door quite loudly. One of the attractions of the hotel is being able to use the pool and the gym, but that’s now chargeable (£7.50 for a day pass) The equipment in the gym was either not working, absent or really out of date. Sorry to say but I’ll probably stay at the hotel opposite which is about the same price but with a nicer bar & restaurant.
