My fiancé and I booked this trip for his birthday and our one-year engagement. We had the best time and the best service! We booked four nights from 12/19/25 - 12/23/24. The hotels is beautiful with tons of restaurants, shops, bars, rec area, pools and private beach. The staff works really hard and are extremely friendly. Unfortunately our experience did not align with the very high ratings we relied on when booking. We saw cockroaches in our room on two separate occasions. On our first day, the air conditioning would not turn off, and after insisting on a room change, the door lock in the new room did not work, leaving us locked out for several hours until I demanded a supervisor’s assistance. The food quality was very inconsistent and at times almost inedible. The drinks were also poor quality throughout our stay. What concerned us most was something we personally witnessed that helped explain the high ratings. While dining at the BLoved restaurant, the host approached my sister-in-law and asked her to leave a review. She was told to scan a QR code, which opened Google Reviews, and the staff member selected “5 stars” on the phone before handing it back and asking her to write something about the service. This explained why so many reviews mention staff rather than the overall resort experience. There were some positives. The beds were fairly comfortable, the rooms themselves were not bad, and the resort grounds are pretty. The staff were generally nice, the hot water was good, and we did find one fairly decent restaurant on site, Thalassa. However, there was a lot of seaweed, the water was murky, and overall the quality of food, drinks, room issues made this stay disappointing. Based on our experience, the online ratings did not accurately reflect what we encountered.

This was our second time here and it did not fail to amaze! All the staff was great and courteous, the entire facility was CLEAN and well maintained, the food was excellent, and the liquor (for those who drink) is excellent and unlimited. Meals were delicious; service was top-notch! Pools were beautiful, drink were cold and tasty. Sand on beach was fluffy; lots of seaweed unfortunately. Many activities took place on the family size. Night club is located on the family side too. Adults only was serene and subdued.

Service horrible, false pictures , not the room you get. Dusty blankets made me so sick and triggered my allergies. Staff was not cooperative at all, gave us the room that we had booked anyways later and made it sound like an upgrade. When asked for compensation tried to give free dinner and made it sound like a favor when everything was all inclusive anyways and tried to get us to sign a paper to say just bc we are accepting the dinner we release the hotel of all the liability for me getting sick from their dusty blankets and for all the inconveniences. When I complained to hotels.com about it and they tried to intervene the front staff kept on disconnecting the phone on them and never got the manager on the line

Great time with my wife, enjoyed the scenery and the staff was very nice throughout the trip! Food options were awesome as well! I was able to enjoy both side of Catalonia as well. Entertainment was also top tier, each night my and my wife were able to visit different bars and the theater to enjoy our night time at the resort!

Beautiful resort with multiple dining options to choose from each night. The staff are very friendly and welcoming from all departments. Housekeeping does a remarkable job keeping the entire resort spotless. Food was delicious as well. We enjoyed our room in one of the privileged suites and the beds were very comfortable. The resort is quiet day and night with activities ending at 10 pm. We also took advantage of being able to dine two nights at the family friendly resort next door. This was my second time staying here and would recommend Catalonia Royal Bavaro to anyone!

Rooms and grounds are nice. Beach is not great. Not the blue waters we expected. Staff at pool bar is excellent. (Leo and Ashly). Food is acceptable. Steakhouse meals were always cold. Thalassa restaurant is great. Air conditioning did not work properly. Never below 24°. Nice lobby and piano bar. Definitely good value for what we paid.
