Very clean facility; manager Jose was very responsive and helpful; no in-room fridge but we were allowed space in the kitchen’s large fridge to store a few items; easy walk to bus and train and to restaurants.
Everything was seamless and such a great space. The staff was friendly and the permit parking was great! Breakfast was lovely as were the common and outdoor areas. Would definitely come back.
I had such an AMAZING stay here! I had to find last minute accommodations for a 1 night stay and The Sono totally exceeded my expectations! When I booked, it wasn't clear that it was actually a bed and breakfast and not a hotel, but that was a great surprise! My flight arrived around 9pm and, despite the late arrival time, an employee met me at the front gate and carried my luggage to my room for me! The entire place was SUPER clean and I felt really comfortable and safe.
You also can't beat the location!! Surrounded by gorgeous brownstones--it feels like you are a part of the beautiful neighborhood. It's also extremely close to the brown el train and a few bus lines as well.
One small thing was that I needed Q-tips and they don't provide any in the bathroom, which I usually expect as a typical hotel offering--but that's more of a suggestion than a critique.
Thank you again for making my short stay at The Sono so memorable!
A unique experience very different from a typical hotel! The location is in a residential neighborhood between homes, so very different from your typical hotel. The ample free snacks and drinks were a great perk. The shared common kitchen/dining room/porch were beautiful. The bedroom itself was a little small, and only a queen bed -- and only stairs, no elevator -- but the bathroom/shower was large and lovely. The host was frendly and communicative. Free street parking is available, no $40/night that you might have to pay at other hotels. A great place overall!
When we first arrived at the Sono Chicago, there was a plumbing issue in our room from the night before. With no other rooms available, we had to stay in a space that wasn’t ideal at first, although the manager Jose resolved the problem as quickly as he could. Throughout our stay, Jose went above and beyond to ensure our anniversary weekend wasn’t overshadowed by a rough start. His hospitality was truly exceptional; he responded to our late-night messages within minutes. In 2025, many people believe great customer service is a thing of the past—but it’s alive and well at the Sono Chicago. I give this hotel five stars, but I’d give Jose seven stars!
This is not a hotel more of a Bed and Breakfast which is fine except the room was tiny with no desk or place to sit and work. The room was very clean and check in easy however it was on the bottom floor with the communal dining room table located almost directly on top of the room so 630AM every day felt like people walking directly on top of your head. For $400 a night that was very disappointing. I would highly recommend avoiding staying in the two rooms on the bottom floor.
What an amazing stay this was...super friendly staff who were so happy to help with any requests.
The Sono is in Old Town with lots of great places to shop and eat nearby.
Can't recommend it highly enough!
Quiet neighborhood just minutes away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. Communicative hosts, comfortable rooms and plush beds, delicious continental breakfast, and terrific rooftop terrace with great views. We will definitely stay again!
This bed and breakfast was an absolutely breathtaking gem that surpassed every expectation we had, delivering an experience that went well beyond what the photographs could capture. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the stunning beauty of the place, which seemed to offer everything one could possibly desire in a cozy getaway. The owners were the epitome of hospitality—warm, welcoming, and genuinely sweet—always ready to lend a hand with anything we needed, whether it was local recommendations or small touches to make our stay more comfortable. Their attentive care made us feel truly pampered throughout our visit. The location was another delightful perk, perfectly situated just a stone’s throw from a wide array of dining options, giving us plenty of choices to explore nearby restaurants and cafes at our leisure. It was the kind of place that makes you want to return again and again.
Our first non-traditional hotel stay. Great communication and Adie was extremely friendly and made sure we knew about the property and its location as we weren't from around the area.
King bed room was clean and spacious with a huge shower and a balcony to sit and read.
The free parking was a bonus along with the continental breakfast.
Because of the small setting, we were able to meet some really interesting people from much farther away than we were.
We really had a great time.
