The room was boiling and we couldn't sleep properly. The air con didn't cool the room down at all, just made it very loud and there was only one tiny window which was broken so didn't even open fully. We had to leave it open at night for some air and it was very loud outside. They sent maintenance to look at the air con but it still didn't work but we didn't realize until it was too late. The TV remote didn't work properly so struggled to use TV. We were in the back of the hotel and the lift didn't always work properly. It is quite dated but the bar area is lovely and not too ridiculously priced for a central London hotel bar. It wasn't terrible but probably wouldn't book to stay again and think it was quite overpriced.

Should have been better

The bed was very comfortable. The shower was nice so is the bathtub. The room was beautiful. Now that said, they didn't have our reservation even though it was prepaid. If I didn't have proof there could have been a problem. The dinner was too expensive and not very good. The steak was gristly and the sandwich was not tasty at all. Breakfast however was wonderful. The swimming pool and hot tub was very difficult to get in and out of. It actually seemed unsafe and the water was cloudy. There was a glass entrance door on the 6th floor that made a terrible screeching noise that you could hear all over the hotel. Nobody seemed interested in fixing it.

Hotel is well situated, clean with good facilities and excellent rooms. The service we received however was abysmal all the way up to the duty manager who dealt with us. We were checked in under the wrong name, told that payments had been declined when we could prove on a banking app that they had been authorized. We were told that the rooftop bar is nothing to do with the hotel. They just share the same building though they use the picture and advertise this venue in the in room guest directory. The duty manager we likened to Basil Fawlty as he varied between rude, incompetent and always appeared to be exceptionally stressed. It was frankly the worst front desk experience we have ever encountered. The rest of the staff seem to have things mostly under control however the experience put me off ever staying here again it was so bad.

Hotel was super nice and loved its proximity to St Paul’s Cathedral and all the historical sightseeing on that side of the Thames. Room was spacious and clean. Morning breakfast was tasty and a great presentation. Pool area was nice looks larger on the picture but we enjoyed it.
