I didn’t like the customer service. The front desk was rude, and no one sat down with us to explain what the property had to offer or where things were located. We had to figure everything out on our own as the days went by, constantly asking questions. One of the shuttle drivers was very rude to me. I placed my daughters on the shuttle, and before I even had a chance to get on, he started driving away with my kids. When we reached my stop and arrived at my room, I told him to stop so we could get off, but he kept driving until we reached the front desk. Sometimes, I would wait for the shuttle for 15 minutes, only for it to pass by without stopping. The staff loved to stare at us, as if they had never seen a Black family before. I definitely didn’t feel welcomed a lot of the time.

This trip was our very first time traveling internationally and rightfully so, an all inclusive sounded like the best option. I am still in college so we wanted something affordable and lesson learned, you get what you pay for. The property was absolutely beautiful and their schedule was always filled with fun activities and shows that kept you busy. However this was the best part of our stay.. Check in to the hotel took 45 minutes to an hour after I was prompted to “pre check in” online to “expedite” the process. The lack of customer service tended to stay this way throughout our stay. We later found out the property pays their employees extremely poorly, for example an employee we talked to said she gets paid 400 pesos a day which translates to $20 USD daily, for eight hours of work. This amount only got lower when conversing with other staff and it is very apparent in their customer service skills. No one acts like they want to be there, rightfully so. Second off, the food was terrible. I understand that this is what you expect in an all inclusive but for the record the best food we had the whole trip was in the Cancun airport. After steering away from the buffets and reserving the restaurants offered in our package, they each equally sucked except Mamma Mia. I had absolutely no authentic Mexican food while in Mexico which showed us next time we will not be booking an all inclusive and exploring more of the culture (our fault).

Difficult to get reservations for dinner, buffets not that great, services not well advertised. Swim out pool was great to have and the highlight. Went to time share speal which was promised an hour, ended up 3.5 hours before I insisted we were leaving.

Overall an enjoyable stay. The rooms are quite dated and lack any “wow” factor and the food/restaurants are very average. The wins were the friendly staff, the pool seating options (so many - you don’t have to race with everyone at 7am to get a seat), and the ample wildlife/vegetation throughout the property.

I reviewed some of the reviews prior to traveling. Do not take the negative reviews with much weight. I wholeheartedly would give this resort a 5/5. The place was beautiful (yes, a little dated, but beautiful). The staff were so welcoming, funny, kind, consistent, and absolute professionals. The resort's pools were absolutely overwhelming. They were the biggest pools that I have ever seen in my life. The animals and nature were also amazing. I have never seen some of the animals. There were coatis everywhere! They were so cute. The location was convenient to Downtown Playa Del Carmen. There was a resort shuttle for 10 dollars round trip per person; the shuttle was great! A note of caution! Book a taxi from the airport PRIOR to getting to Mexico. The taxi experience is frustrating when you do it the day of. Never, ever, pay the first price they tell you. We paid 220 for two people to get to and from the resort. You can likely find cheaper. All of the critics seem to be not down to earth. This is an affordable and welcoming resort. You get what you pay for with respect to fancy food. The food was what you would expect for an affordable resort. It was good, but nothing I would rave about. There is only one criticism that I do agree with. I think the reservations for the restaurants fill up wayyyy too quickly. Make sure to book a reservation as soon as you check in. Plan your dinner times out to be conveinant for your plans. Otherwise you will not get a reservation. <3

Overall we were very very happy with our stay. Food at these types of resorts is always hit and miss. I'd give a 4 stars on food, but the rest was 5 stars. We are also used to having waiters at the pool that would take orders and bring drinks and that only happened one time over 7 days.

When we arrived to our room, it was nothing like the photos advertised. It was very, very dirty. My husband was using the bathroom and began coughing profusely, immediately needing his inhaler, it was then after looking around that the area by the toilet had mold growing, along the wall, and vents. Additionally the pillow cases and sheets were dirty. We requested a new room due to my husband’s asthma acting up. The quality of food was just very, very average. Also, there was a very bad smell in two of the buffets, almost like sewer water. Also crazy that we had to make reservations for the “nicer” restaurants, when the food served was the same as in the buffets. The only upside was the very friendly staff. After we complained about the room, they sent the concierge to us within 10 minutes and took us to a new room.
