Not 5 star hotel. Expensive for what you pay. Plus, sadly the hotel group is money hungry rather than caring about good customer service. I would not recommend this place for anyone who goes to Cancun and wants quality.

Food is not an issue even if you are vegetarians. You cannot access the beach and weeds here have a strong smell. Such turn off. Time share folks always trying to sell their package. Resort credit is useless and everyone in the resort offers different perks 😃 One time visit.

Airport transportation was all messed up when I arrived. No Expedia reps and had to pay $110 for a hot cab to the resort. The 2 out of 3 elevators to my room floor level didn't work most of the time. Wait service was slow in the restaurants. It took 10 minutes to just get a coke and I was sitting 50 feet from the beverage station. My 500 Resort credit points was a scam because there were very, very minimal items to use it on. A lot of the food items in the buffets looked very suspect and were barely warm with possibility of being unhealthy. When I checked out, a resort customer service person asked about my stay at the last minute as I was getting ready to go to the airport. I told him the problems and he said he could give me a voucher for half price in a future stay. The shuttle was leaving shortly and he said he could not email me the voucher because it takes time to generate it with all the problems I outlined to him. Just not right with all the problems I had.

We stayed at Moon Palace Cancun Sunrise in July, and while we enjoyed parts of our trip, there were definitely some pros and cons worth mentioning. The resort is large, but still very walkable, especially compared to Moon Palace Grand, which felt much more spread out. One of the biggest disappointments was the beach. Unfortunately, during our stay, the sargassum was really bad. The water wasn’t the clear turquoise blue you typically expect from Cancun, and the beach wasn’t swimmable. We understand this is a seasonal issue, but it definitely impacted our experience without beach time. Staff did do a great job at clearing the sargassum off the beach as much as they could. The resort itself is beautiful though we expected it to be more extravagant for the price we paid. Some areas could use a deep clean, especially in the common spaces. Better signage would also be helpful—finding your way around can be confusing at first. The food was hit or miss. The buffet could be improved—pretty limited variety and just okay in taste—but the dinner restaurants were much better, with solid food and service. Lastly, we felt like there weren’t enough activities around the resort during the day. For such a large property, more on-site entertainment or engaging options would really help fill the downtime—especially since the beach wasn’t usable. All in all, it’s a nice property with potential, but with a few upgrades and some seasonal planning, it could be much better.

The hotels are beautiful and clean. The food was phenomenal. The wait staff, amazing. There are two servers I’d like to call out: Aaron from Trattoria and Maximiliano from Riviera Maya… these two were so good—best servers I have ever had… very attentive and knowledgeable. The bartenders were incredibly patient and kind, even with all the children who came up to ask for drinks. Room service personnel were consistently kind and generous. The “only” thing I would recommend is that there be a few extra golf carts that go to the lobbies following the lunch hours. There were times that we waited more than 20 minutes for a golf cart to take us back to our rooms. During those times multiple empty palace elite carts passed us and refused to take us…this was frustrating and inconvenient. If they don’t have any riders they should pick up whomever is sitting and waiting rather than drive around empty. Thanks to all the staff at Moon Palace Cancún who made this the BEST vacation we have had in a very long time!
