Fire alarm kept going off just before midnight. Staff clearly had no idea what to do. No staff point of contact. No guest muster points. I was told it’s fine I can go back to my room by the receptionist then immediately after he told the woman behind me that the are still investigating if there is a fire. So which is it. I’m ok to go back up to my room or are they still investigating.

We very much regret the inconvenience caused by the fire alarm, however, while we appreciate how frustrating this experience can be, fire safety is unreservedly a priority for the hotel and its employees and, as such, we focus to ensure we meet and exceed wherever possible the requirements as per the Fire Safety Order 2005. In saying that, your comment about how the staff handled the follow up has been addressed and corrective actions have been taken. The entrance reception is spacious, inviting, well lit, and makes for a good impression - just like a 4* should be. That's where it ends. The rooms are dated, faded, dusty, no-one seems to wipe up dust, which was caked cm deep behind the bed. An old fashioned fixed head shower greets you in the bathroom. The tiling is pretty good, and the bathroom well lit. The TV has it's own mind about whether to turn on. There is a meagre ration of tea/coffee sachets but no complementary biscuits. What's the point of a mini bar with nothing in it? The main bedroom lighting is dim and makes the room look dingy and dark. Service at reception was woeful. It was slow, pedestrian, bureaucratic, and irritating. I was called forward only to find the guy doing 3 other things which he felt was fine to do with me standing there. The bar area was soul-less, lacked atmosphere, and looked like a cheap working men's bar. The bar staff were lazy and inattentive. Is this a 4 star? I stayed recently at the Holiday Inn Kensington High St, which is a 4*. The well paid lazy Millenniums should check in there to see what 4* means. I would n't stay at this dump again. In fact I checked out shortly after checking in and went somewhere much better. Good riddance.

Great Place to say for getting round London Gloucester Rd Tube station is a step away from the hotel and also plenty of restaurants and bars around the area. All the staff we dealt with from Tuesday until Saturday night were very courteous helpful and always went that little bit more, however on Saturday night the hotel was very busy with an event on and the people from that were allowed almost to take over the bar and us and other guests were forced to move to hear ourselves speak and the 2 bar staff were so under pressure one of them snapped at my sister when she cleared a table of plates and glasses so we could use it and told her to sit down, there was such a queue that when we ordered our drinks we ordered a double round. my daughter complained to a manager who listened and offered us a free drink which we declined as he was missing the point that they need to have more staff on duty and more control over the events people taking over the bar and disturbing other guests who like ourselves had spent a lot of money during our stay.

The check in process was great - very pleasant welcoming gentleman. All straightforward and our room was ready when we arrived by 12 noon. The problem we had was that there was only 1 mug in the room, for 2 of us! We tried several times through housekeeping / room service to get a mug sent up to us, and failed on each occasion, being passed from pillar to post. In the end, we had to wait until the morning, when the housekeeping trolley was outside our room to ask for one. The curtains were quite tatty and damaged. Some of the furniture was damaged an in need of replacement. The bed was very comfortable and the room quiet. The bathroom was fine. Top show is ok, but it is in need of some refurbishment. We have stayed there several times and the overall experience and convenience of the hotel outweighs the weak points. The barman was delightful.
