Decent hotel but my room was in the basement with no external window. It was fine, just wasn't made clear when I booked. As all the hotels on Sussex Gardens, the Cambridge is ideally located for travel to and from Paddington and onward to anywhere in London.
Hotel needs a deep clean and maintenance. Issues with the door key.Thick dust everywhere didn't make me feel confident that the room had been cleaned. No lamps, broken/missing lights, odor in bathroom, and the worst shower I've ever used. Water came out of maybe 5 little holes, the rest sprayed out the back. Faucet knob fell off. Apparently the shower was leaking into the room below. Employee came into our room and called us 3 times within the space of an hour (9-10 Pm) after a long and stressful day and told us not to use the shower- we were unable to each have a shower. Overpriced for the condition and lack of a shower, we should have been offered compensation.
Really convenient for Paddington Station. Reception staff were so helpful. Nice quiet location. Only negative was the lock on the door was broken.

Great location for west/central London with local pubs bars restaurants etc. The staff were attentive and although basic the rooms were perfectly adequate and functional especially if only for a short break. Unfortunately the breakfast bar wasn’t available but Mimi’s Cafe was only a short stroll away.
Handy location near Paddington. We were offered a ground floor room at check-in and took it. Headboard behind one of the beds was coming off the wall and kept pushing the bed away. It was also missing pieces. We were there only one night and reported the problem at check-out. Beds were good, room was quiet, coffee and milk were plentiful, and the bathroom amenities were nice. Front desk crew were nice.

Bathroom and shower were tiny, drain did not remove water properly.
Fellow at reception was helpful.
Front of house staff were pleasant however.. before leaving the room on our first morning, house cleaning asked if we wanted our room cleaned which we said no, we left for the full day and upon returning on the night, someone had entered our room and stole an iPhone charger plug. We checked the door was locked before leaving so whoever took this iPhone plug must have had access to another key card, shady business!
I know I booked a budget hotel. This one was very smelly. Like a sewer. When I tried to address it I was simply told there was nothing they could do. They eventually gave us another room for our last night. But what a hassle and apathy for what was going on
