I would rate this hotel as ok except for cleanliness which was excellent. It seemed a bit dated and I didn’t find the reception staff to be very helpful giving me contradictory information. I think there are better places to stay for £300 room only per night

Unhygienic and very poor service

Room was not ready so we tried to get lunch. We waited about half an hour for lunch order to be taken and additional 45min for any food to come out. Beverage orders were never served but it was on the bill. Luggage was never taken ti the room. We asked for a baby crib we got an extra bed. Room was unhygienic with large stains smelling very chemical of disinfectant. We were transferred to a different room. This one with clogged up plumming. Intense smell of bleach like cleaning product making your eyes tear up. Someone just walked in at 7pm when I was walking out of bathroom naked …. staff walked in with hands full of chips etc to “restock the minibar” Do not touch candy at the check in counter as it is full with u wrapped and spited out pieces.

We did not like the customer service from either the hotel or Expedia. There was a riot going on when we attempted to check in and police were blocking access to the hotel. We hurriedly booked a different hotel and asked for a refund. Neither the hotel or Expedia were helpful. The hotel told if we had waited 3-4 hours the riot was cleared and we could check in! No refund from the hotel or Expedia. Expedia blocked my first attempt to post this. We'll see if this gets through

Beautifull traditional hotel.

Beautiful hotel, full of traditional English charm and character. The staff were all really friendly and approachable, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast had an excellent selction all good quality items, the restaurant was lovely and calm and you didn't feel rushed. The rooms are slightly showing signs of wear but it really didn’t worry us, the views and exceptional location more than made up for it.
