The room didn’t have A/C and with the high temperature outside the room was a sauna. The staff offered me a fan (what???) and then a cooler that barely helped. The corner windows opened a little bit which was not helpful. I asked to be moved to another room but according to the staff, none of the rooms have A/C. Since I bought a non-refundable package, I had to stay and be outside in tours all day long and be back around 10:00 pm when the temperature was a little lower and the room was tolerable. The breakfast was ok but the same food everyday. The only good thing about the hotel was the location and the view from my room (The Tower Bridge).

Hotel that hangs on a view only.

The hotel room had a lovely partial view of the Tower which was nice, but the hotel was dated, not clean and the service was poor. There was no air conditioning in the room in 30 - 36 degrees of heat. We were offered a fan that we had to run all night, but it unfortunately wasn't enough to cool the room.

Our stay was good and we enjoyed the location of this hotel. The staff was always helpful and very professional. The only issue I have is that we arrived to the hotel before check in time and were told our room was ready. But, in order to use the room, we had to pay an extra 30BP (40USD) or wait until 3pm regular check in time. I have never had this happen before at any other hotel. We were able to drop off luggage and went on to our agenda but I was surprised and disappointed by them asking us to pay extra.

The hotel has a perfect location overlooking tower bridge and it’s such a shame that by a country mile they are the worst rooms I have ever stayed in . When you walk in the hotel the reception looks smart and the staff welcoming but that’s as good as it gets. The rooms are fitting for fawlty towers. Broken taps with cold water the furniture was broken , black mould in the bathroom, a massive hole in the carpet the air conditioning and the lock was broken showing 27degrees. Reception told me it’s an old building nothing works but we can give you a fan . They moved me to another room which was just as bad . Dripping tap phone sockets broken with bare wires hanging out , really bad black mould in the Air conditioning which sort of worked flickering lights and just so so poor . It’s the perfect location if you can just sweat it out and put up with the rooms

-Family Room I had reserved was supposed to have a sofa bed for the third person. -No sofa bed available. -Told the front desk and told me it would take 20 mins to bring in a bed. -50 mins went by no one came to the room. It was already 11:30pm and family was eager to go to sleep. -went downstairs again and staff had switched shifts, so new staff was not aware of issue and told me they would help although that was not their job -10 mins later they arrived with a tiny roller bed -

Tired but very comfortable

Quick lobby check in helped avoid the queue which was welcomed. The room was pretty small with restricted view of St Catherines Dock and the bathroom taps and shower need attention as quite old and tired. Bed was incredibly comfortable though which was a saving grace for our stay.

Beautiful Location & Lovely Service, but Disappoin

We stayed at The Tower Hotel by Thistle in London during what turned out to be an epic heat wave. I specifically chose this hotel because it advertised air conditioning—something I knew we’d need for summer comfort. Upon arrival, the hotel made a sweet gesture by upgrading our room to help celebrate our 20th anniversary. Everything about the location, the views, and the service was truly lovely. The accommodations were clean, the staff were friendly, and we couldn’t have asked for a better spot near Tower Bridge. However, our stay was overshadowed by one major disappointment—the air conditioning. When we entered the room, it felt muggy and warm, but we assumed the AC just needed time to "kick in." After speaking with the front desk, we learned that the hotel uses a central AC system that is controlled by the hotel, not individually by each room. Unfortunately, the temperature in our room never reached a truly comfortable level, and the hallways and lobby actually felt cooler than our space. For a stay during normal London weather, this might not have been a big deal, but during a heat wave, it made the nights uncomfortable. While I truly appreciated the upgrade and enjoyed the rest of the hotel experience, I want to make future guests aware of this AC setup so they can plan accordingly—especially if visiting in warmer months.
