I arrived at the hotel to be greeted by the reception who was chewing a bit of sandwich that she had regurgitated whilst serving the last customer. She told me what sort of sandwich it was. Then she went on to tell me that the room I had booked had been given to someone else and the hotel was full. She'd booked me in another hotel down the road on a motorway service station that I'd seen earlier on ebookers at £70. I didn't fancy staying there as I thought it would be noisy, which it was. She said don't worry they'll charge you £81 as that's what the rate was here. I explained I'd seen it cheaper earlier and she said their rack rate was £95. As she clearly didn't give a monkeys I left. That's the first time I've ever arrived at a hotel having booked a room to find that they'd let it to someone else.

Nice hotel within easy walking distance to town. Convenient stop off from motorway between Edinburgh and London. Good dog walking next to hotel. Will definitely use again.

Decent three star hotel

Better than average for a three star hotel. Nice staff. The hotel bar could be improved though. We had a few drinks in there at night. It lacked atmosphere, too bright for an evening and no comfy seating areas. A bit of low background music would help as well. Otherwise the hotel was faultless.

Basic Hotel

Pros: free parking
free parking, reasonable check-in and check-out, tendency to getting ignored in the bar / restaurant area. Bathrooms have good size shower with poor lighting. Hotel would benefit from some refurbishment

Great Location, Friendly staff, fair bar prices :)

The staff at this hotel were among the friendliest I have met anywhere. From the check in with Takis to the willing bar staff our night here was an absolute pleasure. The beds are comfy, the room and tv more than adequate. Only 2 minor gripes...1 a biscuit with the coffee tray in the room would have been good ans 2) the shower was a bit short on pressure but no big deal Keep it up.

Disappointing

Hotel and rooms are 'tired and dated', bed was lumpy, restaurant/bar are was no better. I stay in a hotel in North Yorks weekly and will avoid this one in future.
