Location was fantastic, such a beautiful building. Rooms could definitely do with a refurb, they are quite dated, and floors are very uneven. Breakfast was yummy, couldn’t fault the food or the service, staff extremely helpful and friendly.

The staff were really friendly . The location of the hotel is excellent . Right in the middle of Bakewell . Walking distance to everything . The rooms are tired and need updating. The bathroom products are cheap and poor quality . The breakfast was ok but we felt very rushed and were not offered more coffee or tea . It felt as though they just wanted you in an out as fast as possible .

Room in courtyard was very nice and warm & comfortable. Everything worked perfectly. Tea making facilities good. Parking was awful, at first I had to block others in, but found out that this was usual and locals were aware. Someone did leave when the Antiques shop closed ( it’s car park is where you go) and I moved my car. This aspect of the hotel is a bit annoying but it is in the town centre. My only real problem was being told I could not go in the restaurant even though I had made a booking for 7.30 as I was on my own and did not want to go elsewhere as there were only pubs open in the centre on a Monday. Their excuse was they had a party of 25 in a function room. I didn’t see why one person would make much difference. The girl on reception did say I could go at 7.15 then, but was the sense in that? How would 15 minutes make it easier for them...or is that how long it takes to prepare a meal?! I had a feeling if I had been in a couple we would have been welcomed.... Anyway, I had a bar meal there & it was rather nice, so I was pleased not to have wasted more money than I needed to!

Very clean and comfortable

Pros: Staff, cleanliness, location
Cons: Traffic noise
Location: Excellent for walking and sightseeing in the beautiful peak district
Lovely hotel in the beautiful town of Bakewell. Great location. Room was very clean, and staff were excellent. Only down side was the traffic noise as our room was right next to the main road on the ground floor
