A charming take on a pub b & b. Excellent location A bit noisy in the evening due to exhilaration of pub customers . However we did not mind. This was our second stay at the Old P O and we would stay again.

Having travelled all over Europe and the UK in more expensive hotels and accommodation, I didn't expect much for £30 a night, but I was pleasantly surprised. Compared with many other places the amenities are basic, but for its central location on a budget, it's ideal. The bedroom was a large double room, with the usual TV, cupboards, wardrobe and washbasin and was spotlessly clean with a very comfortable bed which made for a good nights sleep. The only fault was that it didn't have an ensuite toilet and bathroom and whilst some rooms did, my room had a modern private bathroom with toilet and shower across the corridor, but again this was spotlessly clean. The layout downstairs was like a cross between an old pub and a restaurant and it was here that an excellent breakfast was provided in the morning, at no extra cost! I had a vegetarian full English breakfast and there was the choice of additional cereals, toast, tea, coffee and juice which you could help yourself too. The staff were all pleasant, professional and welcoming and all in all I can highly recommend the Old Post Office, for anyone who is on a budget and wants nice centrally located accommodation, which does everything it says on the tin and more.

Very good. Recommended.

Pros: It was clean, friendly and very good value for money.
Cons: For the price everything was above par.
Location: The hotel is centrally located so all is too hand.
I only stayed one night and found the hotel, staff and amenities excellent value for money. I would stay again.

Clean and basic

Pros: See above
Cons: See above
Location: Walk around, the town is very pretty
We knew we were not booking a five star hotel, so this place actually didn't disappoint as such - it is very basic but clean accommodation. Good points: central location, nice fresh breakfast, clean room and shower/toilet, nice white linen and relatively comfy bed, tea/coffee station. Negative points: radiator was not walking, so was very cold, window was not shutting fully, so added to "freshness", shower cubicle is small with trickling water, do not plan to wash long hair in it. Overall 3 out of 5...

Well Worth Considering Nice and Frendly

Pros: Friendly Staff
Cons: Showers
Location: Not good for parking unless you have a blue badge but plenty of paid parking in the town wardens are ok if you inform them and don't ignore the signs
This Hotel after looking at the reviews online made me wonder, We had my 83 year old mother with us but before we booked in the owner contacted me to explain there were a lot of stairs which was appreciated and we still went ahead with the booking. On arrival we could not fault the welcome from the staff who where brilliant. We booked two rooms and both where very clean and served our needs. The only criticism is the shower would not support a front row rugby team needs just slightly compact!. Overall the hotel was worth the money and the owner was very helpful as i spook to him in the bar during the evening and thanked him for informing us know of the stairs. Would recommend this place to anyone.

Lovely stay

Pros: Lovely building. Friendly & helpful staff.
Cons: Better if all rooms were en-suite, but realise that is probably not possible.
Location: Shrewsbury - a lovely historic city. In future, we will go there by train or bus or use the park & ride - not an easy place to drive or park in.
Staff excellent - couldn't have been more helpful. Facilities fine - very comfortable. Only down side was that we had one of the 2 rooms that have a seperate shower/toilet, but know that now for our next visit.
