My experience with Expedia and Grand Sunset Princess was extremely disappointing and stressful.
Upon arrival at the hotel, I was told that my booking showed an infant instead of a child. This was shocking because there is no clear or obvious option in the Expedia app that shows this distinction, and I have booked many trips through different platforms without ever making such a mistake.
Instead of trying to resolve this reasonably, the hotel staff refused to acknowledge that this could be a system or app issue. They demanded that I pay an extra fee based on the same-day hotel rate, which was significantly higher than the rate I originally booked. This felt unfair and exploitative.
I contacted Expedia expecting support, but they were equally unhelpful. The agent gave me only two options:
Pay the inflated difference demanded by the hotel, or
Cancel the booking and receive a refund only according to hotel policy, which meant not a full refund.
This completely defeats the purpose of booking through an agent or travel platform—to help resolve issues when something goes wrong.
Neither Expedia nor Grand Sunset Princess showed any willingness to take responsibility or offer a fair solution for what was clearly a minor and unintentional booking issue. The lack of customer support, flexibility, and basic understanding ruined the start of my vacation
I strongly advise travelers to avoid using the Expedia app and to think twice before book this hotel
