We booked a room from Thursday-Sunday and my husband was already staying there for a business trip. I had already reported that we did not have a satisfactory check-in situation or room assignment, but nobody responded to that, and we were still there. I had asked the front desk for extra pillows in one room and we didn’t get them. My husband’s room didn’t get cleaned one day and when we called at 2pm to ask for housekeeping, they waited two hours to come, by which time we were already done with our day and back in our room. The parking fees are ridiculous (and I live in California and am used to high prices), the beds are poor quality mattresses that have a topper to make them feel more luxurious, but are not helpful in covering the uncomfortable mattress quality. Hurt my back. Also when they say “double beds” they are serious, not queen beds, but full-size. Not really comfortable for two teenagers to sleep together. The bath doesn’t drain either. Had this same problem with my husband’s room too. The restaurant staff is wonderful though and we had a delicious meal at Thanksgiving. I usually get some type of upgrade or benefit since I’m an Expedia Platinum member and nothing was provided. First time that has ever happened to me in years of booking through Expedia. My husband has stayed at The Charles before, due to frequent business trips to Boston but is considering not returning. Very disappointed in this stay, and the poor service.
