Room was fine but located downstairs below the dining room so people dragging their chairs across a wooden floor for an hour or so was slightly annoying but otherwise all good.
I and my friend had a great short break. We each had a very comfortable single bedroom with ensuite. The staff were always very friendly, helpful and courteous.
The location in Clifton is excellent and the main areas of Bristol are within easy walking distance.
We had one evening meal in the restaurant and it was delicious.
The only quibble was that the shower door could do with some attention at some point, a minor detail!
Would definitely recommend.

Liked: Staff & service
Friendly staff but not great conditions
Small room on top floor, not too convenient with all the stairs. Electric shower was not easy to use. But staff at lobby was friendly and helpful. Room service was not amazing, they changed linen after three days (if I remembered correctly) but didn’t clean the floor for you. They washed the mugs poorly and put them back (there were still tea marks). One day around midday, room service lady knocked the door, I told her to come back later because I was still getting ready, she told me but they finish at 12.30, so can only do 12.20 (I found it a bit bizarre that room service was done that early, you lose it if you don’t get out in the morning).
NOTE: This is a review of the Berkeley Square Hotel
We were de-booked from the Rodney Hotel at short notice as they decided to close down for the period of our stay and placed us at the Berkeley Square Hotel at short notice. This is not in the part of Clifton that we needed but we accepted the change with such short notice to make alternative bookings.
At check in we were informed that the restaurant, bar and lounge area were closed for preparation of a private fee paying new year party for non hotel residents (this is the New Year period). This meant that as a resident, we were excluded from all hotel amenities during our stay except our room. We protested but the hotel manager was intransignent and offered no concessions. In essence, residents were pushed to one side in favour of the ticket holding party goers. Later, I discovered that the bar and restaurant were only going to open up a week later, well after our departure. No concession was offered for this reduced service.
On New Year's Eve I saw a note on the exit door to announce that there would be no room cleaning on New Year's Day. I complained but my complaint was dismissed due to staff shortages. I requested new towels be brought but never came.
This could be a nice boutique style hotel but failed but failed on so many levels.
I have become a frequent visitor to Bristol but I definitely won't return here.
Don’t book a single room if you are remotely claustrophobic. Tiny box room, en-suite was possibly larger than bed area. Mattress too soft, offered no back support. Room was hot and stuffy although it was mid October. I really did not enjoy my stay and won’t be back.
The Rodney was a convenient distance from the railway station. It was old but cared for. Perfect for my one night but would have been happy to stay longer if I needed to. Amber the waitress was great and I enjoyed the restaurant food
Great location and friendly staff but it’s just too noisy for me. 6am bin collection across the road seemed to be endless- so unless you are an early riser be aware of road noise and external noise- everything else about the hotel was great 😊
Very nice hotel for the money, no aircon but had a fan and the room was comfortable. It’s clean and in good condition, service was freindly, parking is minimal outside the hotel but on street parking was perfectly fine.
They should state they only have 7 parking spaces. They should also be clear that if there are no spaces you have to park on the street (a mile away in my curcumstances)
I was in room 30 up three flights of stairs. The room was so hit i left in the middle of the night.
Unfortunately, my room was on second(3rd in USA) floor. Bed was comfortable, bathroom shower facilities a bit tight for a big guy, mini frig didn't work. Otherwise, a delightful place to stay. Very convenient to cafes and pubs. Staff helpful and very friendly.
