Overpromised, under delivered.
Cheap awful bed, noisy doors, we had to get a tv remote from reception ! No toiletries.
According to the website there are lovely rooms….but we didn’t get one. We booked a “superior” room but I can only imagine what it was superior to… the shed ??
Bar staff were excellent , but mouldy windows, grouting like a child had done it added to a huge disappointment

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
Staff lovely, polite and helpful. Room was spotless and comfortable. It's a beautifully set up hotel and well worth a visit. Our stay coincided with a breakfast with Father Christmas (in not American, so i dont say "Santa" and it was lovely seeing the children all excited. I definitely recommend Rainhill Hall.
Staff were spot on,breakfast was very good.Luxury room was very shabby and had a metal framed bed that clanked every time you moved and a very thin mattress that you could feel the springs through!
Lovely room with new shower, very friendly and helpful staff. Comfy bar area and nice grounds to wonder around.
Just a continental breakfast in the morning, but this was ample.
It wasn’t expensive to stay here but excellent value for money.

room 30 is pretty tired, the shower is high above the bath with no shower screen/curtain so it's impossible to keep the bathroom dry, puddles form everywhere.

Lovely property but was sent an email earlier in the week from the hotel to ask the reason for the trip so they czn accommodate us appropriately. We werent anything to do with any function happening there. When we arrived, we were horrified to be place right next to the function room where music was on. We asked to mive but there was no where else. The music was loud until midnight. If i hadnt have been asked in the first place the reason for my trip then fair enough. Hotel apologised but did nothing. Unlikely to stay there again as put off
Things missing from room - toilet brush, second bedside lamp. Heater inadequate for a big room. Very high shower rose and no screen meant I had to mop up overspill from the floor. Breakfast was all served by waitress causing delays in breakfast time. One hour is too long. This hotel used to have part buffet for breakfast which helps speed it up. £15 cost is overpriced. Not happy with giving £50 breakage deposit not mentioned in booking terms and, essentially, illegal in contract law.

Good rolm but let down by the bathroom
Family room was nicely decorated and very large with a seperate area for the 2nd double bed, but unfortunately all let down by the lack of any heating in the bathroom and there was no ventilation either which made it very damp and unpleasant to be in.
Everything was fine until 23:00 when guests were loud on the ay from the bar.
Then 4am someone was sorting plates out and it sounded so loud that they were in the room….. most of the main rooms are great but the newer corridor ones are not soundproofed at all!
I brought 3 business guests to Rainhall as I told them it was really good.
We went for dinner at 2015 and were told we could only have Spicy chicken or Fish and chips. It was rushed and unprofessional. The barman told us it was due to the new menu starting on the 1/10/25
Then breakfast the next morning was badly understaffed the poor girl had far too much to do and we spent longer than we could afford to wait for tea, coffee and a full English.
I use this hotel myself but felt rather let down after singing it’s praises to my colleagues who were there for the first time
Hi I’d like to add hopefully some helpful comments.
We were in Room16, a large room with high ceilings, it only had two wall heaters and only one seemed to be working so the room was not very warm. The tv was mounted on the wrong wall as it was on the wall alongside the bed and could not be viewed comfortably while in bed, needs to be on the wall across the base of the bed. There are plenty of power points in the room but no bedside lamps so have to get out of the bed to switch the lights off or on.
The bathroom has a hydro/jacuzzi bath which is very nice but could not be enjoyed as the bathroom was too cold with no heater.
Overall a pleasant stay but with a few adjustments could be excellent.
