I stayed at the Fontainebleau for four nights and spent close to $4,000 expecting a true five-star relaxing experience. Unfortunately, the pool situation completely ruined the trip.
I booked this vacation specifically to sit by the pool and relax, but getting a chair was nearly impossible. Almost all of the chairs were “reserved,” and it was very obvious that attendants were holding them for guests who tipped them beforehand. We even came down at 9:00 AM one morning and still couldn’t get proper seating — the only available chairs were far from the pool and out of the sun.
It honestly felt like you had to bribe staff just to use a basic hotel amenity, which is unacceptable at a hotel of this level and price point. Eventually I had to rent a cabana for over $300 just to have somewhere to sit by the pool.
The property itself is beautiful, but a five-star hotel should not operate this way. The experience took away from the relaxation I specifically paid for, and I left very disappointed.
