This trip was my fourth time visiting Shephard's. I love the vibe of this hotel. Valet parking is top notch, always making sure they are fast and efficient. Hotel staff is always making sure you are satisfied. The pool area/beach are so relaxing and well maintained. The convenience of food, drinks, restaurants, beach and activities is why I keep coming back! The entertainment during the afternoon and evening are great, always keeping you on your feet! If you're looking for a more quiet night, make sure you book street view, Otherwise you'll be dancing all night long :)

The location is great. The bar(s) and restaurant are good. Rooms are clean(we had 2 queens, one was way too soft). And thanks for telling us it is an “entertainment “ hotel and that there would be music(bands). They were LOUD.

Great getaway

Was looking for a quick "getaway" for my Mom who has been housebound for a bit. This place was AMAZING. It offered everything we were looking for. Waterfront, beautiful sunset, live music and excellent service and food. We will be back!!

I was charged an extra $25/day "resort fee" that no employee could explain was for, but still had to pay even though I didn't use anything other than my room to sleep in. This wasn't disclosed until arriving and checking in. The room had been updated, but was still in poor condition. There was a hole in the bathroom wall, several large dents in the refrigerator, and the bathroom sink had so much water pressure that it sprayed everywhere when you used it and got everything in the surrounding area wet. I needed to use the washer and dryer that was advertised to wash some clothes. However, the entire time that I was there, the 1 and only washer in the building was broken. They had live music on the beach in the evening that went well into the night, and all I heard for several hours while trying to fall asleep was the base of the speakers. I had finally fallen asleep when I was suddenly awakened at 2am by a very loud drunk woman stumbling down the hall and laughing right outside of my door. I was attempting to sleep the night before running in a race early the next morning. Maybe would have been better if I was still in my 20s and wanted the night life scene. Otherwise, I would completely avoid this hotel. Will never stay there again.

Very clean property. Nice pool area. However, it was disappointing that you had to pay for chairs and umbrellas to sit on the beach behind the hotel.

Beautiful, fun and relaxing. We dont like being forced to valet park. We prefer to park and take our own bags. We weren't allowed to bring our own bags on the cart to our rooms ourselves.

Except for the history setting low temperatures, it was great! We could have made more use of the hot tub & pool, but it was a cold walk to get cocktails, etc. The live music they're well known for only happened Sunday night & the tiki bar closed Monday. No outdoor heaters available after that, no convenient bar except the dining room. We made the best of the weather, as did everyone else, but it did put a damper on 4 Minnesotan's dreams of beachcombing, etc. The establishment is great and I would return.

They valet park ALL vehicles on this property. It does throw a wrench into things when you want to go grab beach chairs or something from your vehicle because you have to go to the valet and get your keys - walk to you car on the 3rd floor and get your items - then take keys back to valet and repeat when you are done with your items. Other than that - the property was good !

Clean rooms, great live music during the night. Easily walkable to get to the shops, the beach, and restaurants from the hotel. The main restaurant in the hotel was mostly closed during our stay although the ads said they were open for dinner. Pool is not heated although stated. Gym equipment is a little outdated and rusty. They have a tiki bar with an early happy hour 11a-3p. If you come with a car they only offer valet but staff are nice and friendly.
