Was put on the first floor directly above the reception (room 106) which faced onto the dual carriageway, and which carries a lot of traffic including emergency services with their sirens going. 5am sunday morning, party goers yelling and shouting walking across woke us up and that was it. When checking in on Friday afternoon, I asked about the room alluded too in the booking with a view over the racecourse... Couldn't see any of it unless hanging off the edge of the balcony. Would not stay here again if this is only what is offered. Not worth the money !

Great underground parking. Lovely room 320.Very quiet. Staff very friendly. Huge bed and pillows really squashy and comfortable. We didn’t book breakfast as it has been very slow in the past also after reading some reviews it looked like things have not improved. Wrong room image on hotels.com site but we realised this before booking but it may confuse some.Very handy for everything. We will be back.

Had to carry luggage to storage room, it was then not taken to the room when we returned hours later. Terrible mattress and pillows, stained sheets. Pay for water in the room! Hotel bar closed at 10.30. Breakfast not explained and wrong 3 or 4 times. Just not very good.

Abode hotel Chester

The hotel is situated with easy access to Chester centre and right next to race course.We easily found a car parking space in the hotel car park which had easy access to the hotel. Reception were welcoming and we had the added extra of having an upgrade to a balcony room. Room was a good size and clean, bathroom had a large walk in shower. the room had a modern but cosy feel. A few things that were disappointing: small cartons of water in the room were £2.50 each, there was no plug socket on one side of the bed and the bed was a bit too soft for me. Breakfast was included which is table service. There’s plenty to choose from and it was delicious. The issues lay with the service, we had to wait over 15 mins for a table even though there were tables free but they hadn’t been cleared, they forgot to bring us parts of our order and then the food took a while to come out, there seemed to be plenty of staff but they looked overwhelmed and disorganised. This did dampen an overall good experience at Abode hotel

Shocking

To be honest, we were really looking forward to this night away, but we were left a little deflated. Check in and check out was great, we were made to feel welcome. On arrival we went up to the brasserie for a quick drink, views were amazing, however, it seems that someone forgot to tell the cleaning team to actually clean! it was a little grubby to say the least, with just 3 of us in the bar. Our room was functional, which is probably not what you want to hear when you are pushing yourself to the top end of the market. In all honesty I've stayed in better for a great deal less. The bed was so soft as were the pillows. Probably the worst nights sleep I have ever had and left with a bad back due to the lack of support. I don't understand why hotels don't provide a choice of pillows. Both of us had to use the cushions for some support, but even that was like having sandpaper under your shoulders whilst you tried to sleep. The crowning glory came at breakfast, all I can say is 90 minutes to get served is shocking, no organisation, dirty tables, waiting for ages to get a drink and the chef just ruined any quality produce. Overcooked and undercooked on the same plate, just unbelievable. Guests having to go up and help themselves to drinks as no one was attending tables. I even managed to go back to our room, get all our belongings, take them to the car, pack and get back before our food arrived. Truly awful and we will definitely not be returning.

The hotel is really nice and a great location. We stay when we are running half marathon races. We managed to get a car parking place this time which made a big difference, although £20 is expensive. When we arrived in the room the safe did not work but the manager came very quickly to try and sort it. However, he was unable to fix it. We asked to be moved to another room but he said the hotel was fully booked so it wouldn't be possible. I quickly looked on line and it said there were 3 rooms available! He then quickly arranged for us to be moved and a staff member came to help us move.So that was good. Unfortunately, my pyjamas were left behind and the staffer unable to find them! We were able to pay to keep the room on which made things much nicer after the race. Overall a pleasant stay

Very well located with the racecourse on one side and walkable distance to the city centre on the other. Also next to a bus stop for those wanting to travel further. Reception staff was professional and although the system failed and we have been assigned somebody else's room, it has been quickly dealt with and we've been given an upgrade. Room was nice and clean with comfortable bed. Luck of a fridge was a big minus. Bathroom clean with part of the mirror that doesn't steam, which was a nice touch. Although, shower could use a door or curtain to avoid splashing water all over the floor. Having tiny balcony access and being able to get some fresh air was definitely a bonus, although the chairs could use something to even them out, as half of the floor is paved and another half filled with stone. Overall good experience and would come back for the price and location.
