The room was pleasant and comfortable and the hotel is in an ideal location for the station and the town centre. However, the parking is very expensive and doesn’t include any discount for staying at the hotel. We also stayed during the Christmas period and although we were warned in advance, there was a huge amount of noise from the Christmas parties. This made it impossible to sleep and I feel that the room price should be significantly discounted during these events .

Room was nice and spacious. The door to the room and the bathroom had large gaps which let in a lot of light/made it seem a little less private. Would have been nice to be able to open the window a little. Arrived 10 minutes early and wasnt able to check in, was asked to come back. We didnt have breakfast but we did have a nice drink in the bar.

The hotel has beautiful décor that blends its heritage charm with modern comfort. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Our only minor issues were the low water pressure in the shower and a few underwhelming breakfast items, both in terms of the setup and the food itself. Despite these small niggles, we would very much stay again.

The hotel is quite pricey for a night in Chester, and although outdated the hotel does offer nice accommodations, decent breakfast and a handy location.. although some guests will be luckier than others. The hotel hosts functions on weekends, and if you are staying on the first floor rooms 130-150 you will feel the effects. These rooms are situated right above the loud function, which goes on until around 12:30pm. We had two nights over the weekends and both nights functions were planned, the hotel staff did move our room the second night. When we informed them the morning after our first night, they just laughed and said well look to see if we can move, I assume we took the place of an unlucky guest on the second floor. The hotel and its staff clearly know these rooms shouldn’t be available to non-attending function guests, but obviously don’t care and would rather the room rates than guest satisfactory. Even though our second night was without issue, I have to review 1 star as you shouldn’t be doing that to people. Be careful when checking In, check if functions and make sure of second-third floor if so- good luck.

I do not think the room was not in line with the price that was paid. I would say some staff was not happy in their work and showed this infront of customers. When we entered the bar area you could see food and rubbish on the floor, dirty tables and the bar was full of dirty dishes. It was suppose to be a rest for us. They had a number of functions taking place and downstairs was full of loud drunk people with security having to escort people out of the building and upstairs all you could hear was very loud music.

Staff were great. Hotel is amazingly decorated. Would stay again but… Room 320 was damp from previous roof leak. We had no hot water for 1st day of stay. Apart from that, lovely hotel!

The experience at the front desk was below expectations both at check in and check out. The same staff member as my last visit was incapable of understanding my name even when spelled and was adamant that I had no booking despite showing confirmation. Eventually finding my booking and telling me I had spelled my own name wrong when I spelled it out. At check out a different staff member argued that I didn’t need an invoice despite my request for one. Eventually giving me a paper copy after I politely stood my ground. Not the experience I have from any other hotel I stay in.
