It was fine. No frills, small single room in a rather tired but clean old hotel. Helpful staff.

Disliked: Cleanliness, room comfort
Not happy with the room but the breakfast was nic
Bedding was dirty. When we entered the room the window had been left open without us knowing and it had a strong smell of cannabis. When we realised we closed the window but room still stank massive dirty patch on the duvet cover. Breakfast was freshly cooked and tasted lovely, great selection and service. Bed was very uncomfortable, neither of us had a good night sleep.
Staff were friendly and helpful, beds are very comfortable. Breakfast was good.Overall excellent for the price. The hotel is very close to everything and there’s on sight parking for a fee.

Overall, a good experience, Lovely staff, The room was relatively clean. A bit noisy at night. Breakfast was really good.
The hotel is an absolutely beautiful building. It requires some maintenance. It is great value for money. Really good breakfast.Lovely helpful and friendly staff. We have stayed before and will be back.
Room was dated but fine, the bathroom the toilet seat was not secure, bath had a lot of rust. But the breakfast was awful cold coffee, the eggs just tasted of fryer oil!
The Staff were super helpful, from restaurant to front desk. Breakfast was very tasty.
The hotel is a little tired at the edges in some places - worn carpets etc. but it was very clean and tidy and staff more than made up for it.
Kind of a tired old place, historic but shabby. A lot of stairs to rooms. Minimal hot breakfast, lukewarm showers. Okay for one night and centrally located, but definitely a budget stay.
The reviews said tired but exhausted would be more accurate. Cobwebs in my room, cobwebs in dining room. Bit of the carpet mystifyingly missing. Rust marks in bath. Breakfast - cheap food. Everything grubby. Huge hotel - historic coaching inn. Staff pleasant but the owners really taking the p**** by charging £90 a night for a single.

Passable for a stopover
Overall a pleasant enough hotel. Many original features but definitely looking tired and unloved. Breakfast was excellent as was the service at both check in and breakfast. Absence of hot water from the shower was not pleasant

Ok. Some rooms are a bit tired and dated but it’s a fantastic historic property right in the heart of town. Goth waitress / receptionist was top notch. !
Hope to see the Adam ballroom next time as currently closed.
Big room. Comfy bed. Warm. Very clean. Great breakfast. Great value
