Hotel with unrealised potential.

Pros: Very little.
Cons: Tidiness and cleanliness in public areas.
Location: Adjacent to the A1!!
This could be an iconic b&b but the junkyard surroundings and lack of general care let it down badly. The Hayloft room provides little opportunity to stand upright due to the sloping roof and protruding beams. In the dining room the ornamental plates and objects are covered in a layer of dust. This was a very disappointing stay and the only one in our tour.

Quiet and quirky

We stopped in the Cart Shed lovely sized room, bed was really comfy, plenty of space for the 4 of us (plus spaniel!) staff were lovely, really helpful! Room was really quiet did worry with it being next to the a1 but actually couldn’t hear the road at all!

Charming, quirky, imaginative, delightful

Pros: The way it was decorated.
Cons: Mattress was not too firm and any movements tended to disrupt sleep.
Location: Located off a main highway (but set back enough that traffic went unnoticed and unheard) it could easily be missed as its driveway comes up quickly.
One-of-a-kind experience! Husband and I stayed in the "Hayloft" - a charming large bedroom filled with character that included a separate sitting area, complete with skylights in a beamed, sloping ceiling. Not your typical hotel by any standards with a rocking chair mounted atop the roof, a dining area in what was the former stables, and most rooms having their separate exterior door opening into the shared, central courtyard. The included breakfast was delicious with homemade bread and fresh eggs from the resident chickens. Highly recommend it - especially if you like unusual and clever decorating.

Rustic charm

Pros: Location, price, friendliness and overall quirky ambience.
Cons: Access to the courtyard is locked after 11/11.30 pm. Key to the door would be better than having to disturb the owners to be let in if returning late.
Location: 10 minutes to coastal village of Alnmouth and the beach. Alnwick town - castle, shops, pubs and restaurants. 30 mins from Newcastle .
Rural setting in a lovely courtyard. A former farm and antiques seller Alnwick Lodge offers a handy location about a mile from the market town of Alnwick. Welcoming owner and staff, and ample parking. We stayed in the Roundhouse, a quirky, bijou room up a small spiral staircase. The room is quite small but more than adequate for a couple and has lovely lime-washed beams and features. Breakfast is served in former stables with 3 large candle-lit tables and is decorated with antiques. This room looks out over the cobbled courtyard. A very good selection of cereals, yoghurt dishes, fruit juice and a hearty English breakfast . Our dog was made very welcome. They also have a small camping field and a number of old gypsy caravans . A good value B&B in a convenient location and a credit to Peter and Evelyn, the owners.

Quirky

The hotel is situated conveniently at the side of the a 1 just below alnwick The room we stayed in was so warm and cosy it was hard to go out that night The couple repair and sell antiques which gives the quirky feel with all the furniture being restored and reused A most friendly welcome was had when we arrived Absolutely great place to stay and will definitely be staying there again If you are expecting glass boxes and fancy lifts don't go if you want genuine warmth and genuine people yes it's a must

Good location for our wedding venue

Pros: Very quirky and the bed was very comfortable .
Cons: It looks tired and needs de cluttering especially down in the restaraunt ..
Location: Alnwick castle is very near location is very good
Lovely setting, very quirky and unusual nice welcome with tea and biscuits in the courtyard. But unfortunately the room was small my husband is very tall, so the bathroom with a slant ceiling was no good as he could not use the shower. The water ran very slow this was the round house room. Shame really as the food was very good!
