Thank you for the great review and congratulations to your nephew! We are so glad to hear it was a great day.

Characterful room but quite cold even with radiator on max. Awkward moment at breakfast when we arrived around 45 mins before close and we overheard the staff member who seated us say ‘Hopefully this is the last two.’ quite loudly to the chef. A few minutes later another guest showed up and asked if hot food (other than the buffet) was still available and was told that it wasn’t despite it being around 30 minutes before breakfast ended. Food was OK but wife’s scrambled eggs (salmon and eggs) were in the shape of a bowl, suggesting a quick microwave job, and didn’t come with much in the way of trimmings. Overall - a nice room (we had a suite), loads of character and well-equipped but chilly. Stay let down at the end by the breakfast experience. I stay in hotels often and feel £190 was a bit steep based on our experience. Probably not likely to re-book.

Lovely place to stay

Pros: The location and parking facilities.
Location: On the Main Street in Old Amersham with plenty of places to eat. A good selection of shops and a museum Lovely walks.
My husband and I were at the The Kings Arms hotel for two nights recently. This is our favourite place to stay when in Amersham. The executive room we had was a good size and the double bed very comfortable. The bathroom, too, was big enough with bath, separate shower, basin and toilet, although the toilet was a little difficult to access. Adequate space around the basin to put your own toiletries as some hotels do not provide this luxury. The only negative comment to make is about the condition of the carpet - it was in a poor state. Nevertheless we had a good, comfortable stay. The staff were only too happy to please and the breakfasts were good. Would recommend this hotel to family and friends.

Avoid rooms 1 & 12

Pros: Age related character features. Location within walking distance to good restaurants.
Cons: I do not believe that rooms 1 and 12 should be sold to paying guests, unless management can find a way to address the inherent noise and smell problem
Location: Vote Brasserie is 200 yards down the street and serves good quality and reasonably priced French inspired cuisine.
Unexpectedly "upgraded" on check-in to character room 1, with vaulted ceiling and open plan shower area in the bedroom. Unfortunately room was stiflingly hot and situated directly above kitchen which had vented skylight and extractor fan directly outside bedroom window. Noise and smell unbearable. Reception staff very helpful and relocated us to room 12, another character room. Unfortunately, no sleep at all due to continuous drone of external compressor/refrigeration unit serving the bar below. Tiredness relieved by stone cold shower in the morning, as water heating system was not working. Cooked breakfast was good. Whilst we may have been unlucky with both rooms, I could not recommend this hotel as good value for £140 per night. Stay in nearby Marlow for better value for money.
