Theft of food

Not impressed with the room size. Bed too soft and low. Was surprised and shocked by the fact that a family group of 4 adults were allowed to fill plastic containers with everything from the breakfast buffet to the detriment of other guests. They emptied the bacon, sausage serving trays, also eggs , cereals milk and eventually coffee in thermos flasks. Your other guest had to wait until your staff filled them again. Should this hotel group wish to make profits in the future , your staff should not pander to guests effectively stealing your offered food. Oh yes, they had also filled their plates to overflowing before eating. Disgusting.

Lack of Investment

The hotel is looking very tiered, there are no showers and disabled amenities in the rooms are limited, Wife had broken leg 4 weeks before we were due to stay but the only rooms that would suit us as no lift was ground floor, we have stayed here about four times in the last ten years, but this will be our last as the accommodation & prices don’t reflect any investment.

Not going back, heating not working, no hot water

Room was cold - no heating - unit had a spanner - needed servicing. Restaurant closed, but bar fish and chips were lovely. No hot water in the room - very unhappy about this. Breakfast was luke warm not hot. Expected better for the price from a Holiday Inn.

Terrible overpriced decaying relic

A terrible decaying relic that should probably be pulled down. Greeted by parking eye if you get fined for pushing the wrong button (tough) Then proceeding through automatic doors trying to rattle themselves off the hinges. No investment this century. Beds are ridiculously uncomfortable, Just about every surface is heavily stained, Lights make no sense, hugely overpriced at a push 2 star hotel. Would avoid at all costs. 2 star property with 4 star price tag, much better available for alot less nearby.

Visiting friends

The hotel was in a great place for us as we were visiting friends. The room was clean and everything was good for my disabled husband. We had breakfast both morning and the food was good even offering to cook fried or poached eggs fresh. Sumira was the waitress and she was very attentive and friendly. Kate was in reception when we checked out and she also was very friendly and helpful. All in all a good experience will be returning.

This is now our third visit to this hotel and it is our go-to hotel in Basingstoke. You cannot ask for more helpful, kindly and welcoming staff. They always go the extra mile. Professional, pro-active, engaged with our needs. Great location on the outer ring road, conveniently located for snacking outlets (M & S food, Asda) offering great picnic food. Rooms are clean, well-lit and well designed. Good sound insulation between rooms, excellent sound insulation from the outside, so zero traffic noise. Offsite fitness facilities, pleasant restaurant and upstairs lounge. Great breakfasts. I enjoyed an excellent grilled salmon and salad, my husband had a great steak. Thank you everyone for being so kind and helpful again.

Although the exterior was a bit dated, the interior was clean and well maintained. Easy parking.Staff were welcoming. Room fresh and pleasant. Breakfast enjoyable. Only downside- noisy neighbours at 6am Saturday.

OUTDATED AND COLD

Room did not have heating, one small portable heater available that did not heat up the room. Bathroom was freezing even with the towel heater on. Hot water took about 5 minutes to start. Not a great experience. Hotel was clean and tidy though and staff were friendly.

Do Not Stay here in the winter!

We arrived on a very cold day, quite cold from travelling. The hotel was not that warm in the reception or bar area. No heating was on in our room, and it took a long time to start to warm up. it was a guaranteed booking, and even if we had not turned up we would have paid. Since it was one of the coldest days ( so far) of the winter, someone could have put the heating on. The bathroom was a disaster - only a small towel rail to heat it, and 3 outside walls plus an outside vented extractor. Totally impossible to bath, or shower as very cold. We made a complaint and are awaiting a result. no doubt for most nights it would have been acceptable, but with ice everywhere, a bit more thought would have made things so much better. Food in the evening pretty dire - tinned soup and a roll with no butter - really for £6? I will not stay in Holiday Inns again, although my past experiences have all been good ,
