We were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and state of decor throughout. Breakfast was also good, but perhaps not the freshest but then we were not among the first eating.
In summary, very good value for money and we would definitely go again.
Chewing gum stains on bed side table, someones hair all over the shower tiles (short, black ones - i've got long blond hair) and mould all over the edge of bath, grouting and where the roof and tiles joined. This hotel was one of the dirtiest places I've ever had the misfortune to stay. I booked this as I wanted to take a short amount of time off my drive back home from Manchester airport after a late flight. I'll never make that mistake again. It is so outdated and dirty, it made my skin crawl. Next time I'll brave the 5 hour drive home!
The beds were very uncomfortable, and you could feel the springs.
Room was a bit hot and the controls on the AC were not working properly, to enable us to turn it up.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Booked a number of rooms at the Britannia in Bolton and this is a really bad hotel.
Not nice at all, dirty, poor locks on doors, unsafe. Needs knocking down!
Wonderfully quirky hotel, fabulous comfy beds and extremely clean bathroom

Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service
I thought the staff at breakfast were quite rude not very friendly especially considering they knew we were in an unfamiliar place. There was a half eaten chocolate bar from the people before us in between the beds on the floor which made me think the rooms were definitely not clean

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
Previously assigned room was kindly switched when we arrived at reception, to one that was easier to get to, without us having to ask. Receptionist very helpful and efficient. Staff friendly
It’s a shame to say. It wasn’t a great stay. We had a great check-in the staff are so friendly!!
We had a few problems.
Bugs in the bathroom. We used boiling water to dispose of them
Our second room smelt of urine and had no accessible shower under a accessible room
Our last night we manage to return to the room with no power. We were offered another room which we took
The room next door had a problem with a water leak from up stairs. It was pouring out into the hall way.
When I raised it to the front desk the two gents were unsure of which one actually wanted to come and look at the problem
The staff were lovely but the property was run down, basic and dated. Extremely expensive for what it was. Not dirty itself but because it was rundown it felt dirty. Plug hanging off the wall, brown bathroom from the 70s. Could really do with an update. Would be ok if cheaper but for £110 for one night without breakfast I would expect more.
Good things: staff nice, there is parking and the water pressure in the shower is good.

The hotel was nice and comfortable, but the bed was very lumpy, and the pillows were too high for me to sleep on.
The room was to light as there were no blackout curtains and I found it very difficult to sleep.
Breakfast was unfortunately awful, sausages and bacon were very rubbery, was only fried egg no scrambled and only cereal choices were corn flakes or rice krispies.
On a positive note the staff were outstanding, very accommodating and very helpful.
Had a gig on Friday night so was never planning to stay that long however I was booked for the Sat night as well.
Spoke to the staff and they very happily arranged for me to stay on the Sat night as well even though the hotel was very full.
Room was clean, no issues with anything in that aspect
