I really enjoyed my business stay at this property. The room had a desk to work at after dinner, and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast room, extensive buffet layout, and cooked breakfast was most enjoyable. The reception staff were welcoming, and a special thank you to Chris at breakfast who was bright and attentive, and really got the working day off to a fantastic start. Her energy was uplifting: just what you need to prepare for the day.

For a reasonably expensive 4 star hotel, the room was small and basic although the bed was comfortable. However, we were obliged to keep the roller blind down at all times, day and night, as the room was closely overlooked by 5 other rooms, all of which had Venetian blinds which sadly ours did not so we had no privacy whatsoever. I found this quite unacceptable and had I not been told that the hotel was fully booked I would have requested another room. We won’t be going back.

The staff at reception were very welcoming, and staff in the restaurant pleasing. The condition of the rooms and corridors look and felt ‘tired’ . Access corridors felt like a maze to the rooms.

Sauna/warren with poor wifi

This hotel is an overheated maze with no aircon and wifi that doesn't work!

Thank you for your feedback. This was a very hot period in the British summer and our heating was turned off. Our premier rooms do offer Air Con and standard rooms have fans available from our reception team. We will look into the matter of the WIFI to see if a access point was not working. Once again thank you for your feedback

Excellent stay

Loved the hotel, stayed for one night on 03/12/16 whilst visiting friends. Great location, clean, tidy & very pleasant staff. Both my husband & I would stay here again. 5/5 stars

Quaint hotel in excellent location

Enjoyable stay at the County Hotel. Perfect for city centre and road links. Room I had was a little bit small and the hotel is literally a rabbit warren, however it was very clean and well presented.

Needs renovating

Very outdated and in need of updating/renovating. Also, and more importantly, lacks attention to detail when it comes to cleanliness. For the price of the rooms I would have expected these basics to be met. On the plus side, location is good for Chelmsford town centre and staff seem friendly enough.
