Across the road from the train station which was really handy, room was clean and had everything needed (hairdryder tea/coffee facilities shower gel etc). Shower was a bit temperamental and very hard to get temperature right. Didn't use restaurant but attended a xmas party and the meal was really good. Only one person checking people out which resulted in a queue.

Our room was dirty: the curtain had a big, brown stain, the lampshades were really dirty, the net curtain was torn, the wallpaper was scuffed & marked and the carpet was marked. The bed was comfy & clean, however.

Extremely nice hotel, staff friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, and the bed comfortable. Quiet, with blackout curtains made sleeping easy. I really enjoyed my one night stay. I believed that parking was included, but as I did not book direct with the hotel it cost £8. I paid £10 extra to upgrade to a wider double bed, but as the upgraded bed was very wide I might not have needed to, lol. Recommended as a base for a good night in Derby. Close to transport and close enough to town centre for a cheap taxi ride.

Very disappointing, suggest avoiding

Pros: Nothing

Cons: Everything, especially customer service.

2 night stay Fri/Sat to go on special day out by train on Saturday, so very convenient for station. However, hotel overwhelmed especially on Friday, stood at reception some time in small queue whilst one member of staff talked on phone in front of customers the whole time, another passed and asked if we were checking in (yes we were we said, but no help offered), finally other lady finished with one customer, tapped on compute for 1-2 mins without even looking up and then finally served us. Email account and phone on booking wrong, never mind they said just correct it. Passed huge prom night celebration on way in, no music at 8.45pm. Then got to room directly over ballroom when thumpa thumpa music started right under us till 11.20pm. So no sleep till then and no chance of another room as hotel full and overflowing with people. Next night when we got back at 9.30pm wedding in full flow and thumpa thumpa music till 12 midnight directly under our room. Reception said would end at 12 pm but made no attempt to do anything about it. We booked 4 months in advance and were not part of prom or wedding so why were we put directly above it when there are other guests who WERE part of that party and some other parts of hotel were much quieter? Raised issue on departing and were told Operations Manager would get in contact. 4 days (working days) later and no contact. Room tired & quite stuffy. Brawl of some kind outside wedding on green late Saturday when trying to get to car. Not good.
