Money making to the detriment of the customer

Cons: Do not charge arbitrarily for things which you could provide for no extra cost.
Location: Just off the Pleasance and a stone's throw away from North Bridge and The Old Town & Cowgate.
This is the third hostel I have used in Edinburgh. For initial cost, it is no better or worse than the others. Where it differs is the care it offers its customers. In previous years, my wife and I have been able to turn up to the hostel upon arrival (around 8am in the morning following an overnight coach) and leave our bags so we can get some breakfast before checking in - this is at no extra cost. Not at this hostel, however. It was £3 per bag charge. In previous years, other hostels would provide a continental breakfast in with the price. Not at Euro Hostel. I understand the charge for an early check in, as it requires the staff to go out of their way to prepare the room earlier, and £4.50 is a reasonable charge for this. However, it was £4.50 per person, even though it was the same room, which seems arbitrary at best, at worst, greedy. The rooms and kitchen provided are decent enough but not really cost effective if you want a comfortable stay. I would recommend Castle Rock hostel over Euro Hostel any day of the week.

Nachdem wir die miesen Bewertungen gelesen hatten, haben wir uns aufs schlimmste eingestellt und waren positiv überrascht. Die Zimmer und Betten waren sauber. Alles sehr funktional eingerichtet aber voll ok für ein Hostel. Die Lage ist natürlich genial und gleichzeitig natürlich nachts von draußen her laut. Da muss man sich in Edinburgh drauf einstellen, dass hier im August total viel los ist. Wen das stört der sollte lieber gleich woanders sich etwas zum übernachten suchen. Für einen kurzen Aufenthalt in Edinburgh kann ich das Hostel empfehlen. Wer länger bleibt oder einen unruhigen Schlaf hat sollte sich etwas anderes suchen.

Location: The hotel is well located. We walk until the old Town.
The room is quite small, but is clean. The shower is for 3-4 rooms. The breakfast is quite expensive for what it is actually.

Könnte sauberer sein, einfachheit stört weniger

Pros: Liegt ziemlich zentral, ist alles gut zu Fuss erreichbar.
Cons: Die Reinigung nach dem Auszug der Gäste
Location: Zu Fuss schnell beim Castle oder am Bahnhof.
Das Zimmer hat Teppichboden, der nicht gesaugt wurde. Es hatte Haare darauf, die nicht von uns stammten. In der Küche hatte es keine Gläser. Es sah eher ungepflegt aus.

Grässliches Hostel

Einfach furchtbar. Es war laut, dreckig unbequem und das "Doppelbett" war nur geringfügig größer als ein Einzelbett. Nie wieder!
