Extractor fan in the toilet not working; toilet smells moldy; have to be careful when taking shower, else the whole place gets flooded. One time I dialed 0 but no answer and Reception did not return a call. One whole morning no hot water and there was no warning about water interruption; I slept on bed-sofa and not comfy at all ( it’s not straight).

1st impressions - it's a big busy hotel. The reception was not very welcoming when we entered.Didnt like the room decor. Didnt like the bathroom. Needed to manipulate air conditioning through the night. Toilet door was very noisy and you can hear other guests closing opening doors as its very loud. Not much quality sleep during our stay. Housekeeping was excellent. The staff are really good and very helpful! Always provided with xlean towels and room freshened every day after we left. It was very noisy the 1st night - staff responded to our complaints and ironed out issues. Beds are very comfortable. Fish n chips were excellent at the hotel restaurant! All in all its a good hotel and staff make an effort to make you comfortable! Had to pay an extra £10 as we needed late checkout. Nearby Black sheep cafe was nice, tram link near Haymarket station was easy to use.

Family break

Comfortable room. Check in very friendly and informative. Not bad location about 20 min walk to castle. Good selection at breakfast. Only disappointing was ordered a glass of Prosecco as per the bar drinks menu to be told I couldn’t have a glass I would have to buy a bottle! I only wanted a glass whilst I waited for my son to get ready.

Hotel was nice and service team was excellent and helpful. Loved the triple room. Beds were comfy but bathroom could use a little updating. Was adequate for a one night stay. Not as convenient to public transport /tram or sights as it’s further on the west end.

An average experience

Third time we've stayed here and iit wasn't as great as before. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful, including the cleaners. The room was clean but had no working TV or phone, the chair seemed to be broken as was one of the bedside lights. Finally got the TV fixed but not the phone. Check in was chaotic with a huge group of children arriving at the same time. We were on the third floor so outside noise wasn't too bad but it was very noisy at night - lots of people outside in the corridor chatting and running up and down. Perhaps need the 'Quiet zone" signs that other hotels adopt. The restaurant menu has also been altered with not as much variety. Overpriced for the experience.

Clean and spacious room.

The room was clean enough although the bathroom was looking a little tired. Elsewhere it was fine, comfy bed, good selection of tea and coffee etc and the mini fridge was useful in the heat. Lots of space in the room too. Staff were fine but not overly helpful. My only issues were with the air con and the TV, neither of which were set up/switched on for us arriving. Figured out the air con eventually but the TV wasn't connected to the internet so none of the casting options worked. Had we been staying more than one night I'm sure we could have gotten that fixed though.

Comfortable room food needs improving

Bathroom in room had a smell the whole stay breakfast food was poor quality and evening meal on first night was average good parking in the centre of Edinburgh for only £10 per night room was comfortable and had good nights sleep staff were attentive and helpful. Witnessed other guests being rude to staff who were doing their best.
