For me, and the location is great and staff were fab.
The property is in need of repair or modernisation in a lot of areas (entrance steps and doorway, window frames, ceilings, en-suite)
There is a sever lack of water pressure for the showers on the top floor

We hate the parking charges too, but after the pandemic they are determined to claw back £ and have made it more expensive and 7 days a week.
They wish to encourage people into the City but sadly not their cars it seems!

Nice hotel close to the center city
It's a nice hotel to spend a night in. The staffs were very helpful and friendly, the location is extremely convenient with lots of places to eat or drink. Only 15 minutes walk to old town, really close to the Edinburgh Castle, too. The room is cute and spacious. Large bathroom (which is pretty cool.) True the place may appear a bit old and worn out, but it has everything you need. This is more family like, if you don't want that cold-formal hotel feeling, this could be a good choice to consider.

Very central, great location on the Haymarket
Ideal, very comfortable, and exactly what I needed it for as a last minute (fairly unusual - I know) booking, and price was great!
Job's a good 'un!

Family trip
I have stayed here before,I find it clean very comfortable staff are tops very polite and helpful,
Don't like the breakfast but that's my own choice could do with strongbow rather than magners or bullmers even tin strongbow would be great,
Shower good pressure the only downsides are bedding was very clean but dated bit modern bedding would make it fresher ( modern)
Overall I'm defo staying there again...

Quirky
A quirky Hotel in a great location. Slightly dated but adds to the unique character.

Great service-nice hotel!
The room was huge, and very comfortable/cozy. It was clean and tidy and had plenty of space to store things. The staff was very helpful and friendly. There was a complimentary breakfast included as well, for which we were 'warned' that it was very simple, but for us it was more than plenty (they even recommended other places nearby where we could go and grab some breakfast, which I thought was very honest- I really liked that they didn't try to 'sell you bs'- and thus respectable). The location is very close to Haymarket station (you'd probably get the train to go to the city centre though). Nonetheless, during the evenings, we ended up walking to different bars/pubs , as it wasn't too far. Overall, a very enjoyable experience.

Great location
This hotel was perfect for our needs during the Commonweath Games and the Edinburgh Festival. It's literally just across the road from Haymarket railway station and tramstop for trams to the centre and the airport, and an easy 15 - 20 minute stroll from the heart of the city - brilliant! The hotel itself is very sweet and the staff were lovely. I guess some would say it's fairly basic and could do with a bit of a face lift but it has all you need. If you are after more, there is a Hilton just across the road but for the price we paid for the Ritz we were more than happy!

Needs updating
Stayed here for one night. Hotel is really well situated at the haymarket and well within walking distance of all the sights. Staff seemed pleasant and keen to help. The foyer and bar area were tired and looked like they needed a good scrub. Our room was also in need of attention. The carpet was stained and threadbare in places. The decoration of the room was meant to be vintage but was just old and tired. On a plus side bed sheets were spotless and the ensuite shower was very good. However this was really let down by a loose toilet seat and generally manky decor. The whole room just looked and felt like it needed a good deep clean and a lick of paint. We expected the hotel to be quirky and old fashioned by the online pictures but in our opinion it was badly let down by overall cleanliness. The hotel was also seemed well priced but we will not stay here again.
