Through no fault of their own the staff couldn’t cope. Very disappointing breakfast experience. Staff had called in sick leaving colleagues run off their feet with queues waiting to enter restaurant. Possibly the worst service I’ve ever experienced having used the services of many hotels over many years. Room was in need of a refresh but was comfortable. Price was extortionate but understandable at this time of year when prices are always inflated due to Christmas in edinburgh

Everything was great!! Except the elevator got stuck between the floors for a little less than an hour. 9people in a very small elevator was bad and the air was hot and stifling with one person actually passing out. The evening staff didn’t seem too concerned but the morning crew took care and tried to make it right other than that incident….it was comfortable and the area was perfect!!

Lovely professional and friendly staff. Nice big room. Clean and modern. Lovely selection at breakfast. Thought bar meals were quite bland. Overwhelming air freshener smell in lovely but I am very sensitive to smell so maybe just me! Great location if you’re ok for a bit if a walk- we walked to the Royal Mile, Castle, Princes St easily and Dynamic Earth is literally across the road. All in all a great stay

Good location

We were initially assigned a room that was nice but had some maintenance problems. Next morning, requested a change and we were given another room but it was smaller and less well located. We were polite and certainly didn’t “go off” on the agent. Customer service reception staff have quite a bit of latitude in this type of situation and I feel they missed an opportunity to truly make things right for us. It was a fine stay but didn’t wow us. Breakfast was good. Lots of selection, a-la-carte options available for order along with buffet, selection of gluten free items. Hotel is well-located. We had a light lunch in the restaurant a couple of times and the tomato and roasted red pepper soup is REALLY good. The bed comfort was pretty good.

Breakfast selection was exceptional and food very nice. The main thing that let it down was the very poor service from the staff. We were shown to a table quickly and efficiently but no one came back to take our a la carte order. Don't offer that option if you don't follow up on it. Some of the staff were just miserable and could not be bothered to take the orders. Bit disappointing as it lets the whole place down. Room itself was very clean but we couldn't get the temperature right all the time we were there. Plug hole in shower was very blocked so water almost came over edge. My husband reported it but it didn't appear anything was done.
