The bed room was fine for a single person. Room not warm but heater provided. Bed very comfortable. Although 3 coach parties Dining Room well organised......had to wait for the lift !! Vale for moneyt MJD

Superb location for visit to Harrogate

My friends and I had a reunion in Harrogate this weekend and 4 of us stayed at the Cairn Hotel for two nights from 14 March. Three of us shared a family room and were really impressed by the size of the room; free wifi was also a bonus! It is a beautiful rather grand looking property with lots of open space to sit and chat, enjoy drinks, bar snacks and generally unwind. Our room was immaculate and very comfortable. We all slept well and we all enjoyed the fantastic breakfasts! The staff were all very friendly, helpful and very proactive. The hotel offers plenty of parking which was really useful. It is also only a short walk from the centre of town and we enjoyed being able to walk to all the attractions, shops and restaurants that we wanted to visit. Having seen some of the bar snack food one evening we did wish we'd tried the food in the hotel beyond breakfast! We had a fabulous time and would love to return! Thank you to all at the Cairn Hotel for making our stay such a pleasant and enjoyable one.

Lovely characterful building but in need of refurbishment. My friends and I shared a 3 bedded room. None of us slept very well due to the hot temperature in the room. Also the bedroom curtains were at least 4 inches short allowing lots of outdoor lights to come into the room. The beds were comfortable and bathroom adequate. Breakfast very average. In a convenient position for the town.

I disliked everything about this property. From the very first greeting to walking out three days later. The hotel is beyond tired. Everything is heavily worn and needed replacing at least ten years ago. The service is grumpy at best and the whole hotel had an underlying smell of faeces and antibac. I always look for the positives in things but I am drawing a complete blank here.

Lovely old building. My room was spacious and comfortable. It was lovely and quiet. It was very convenient for the convention centre and there was plenty of parking space. It was a little tatty in places. Most of the staff were very welcoming and friendly.

The budget room we stayed in was basic and small but bright and sunny. The more expensive rooms are bigger but not that much better than the budget rooms. Some of the premium rooms are very dark because windows are facing obstructions, hence very little sunlight. Had a pipe burst on our last day so no hot water for shower in the morning. The staff were very helpful and gave us alternative rooms to take a shower but non of the rooms had hot water. Overall it's not a bad hotel and the staff were great.

Humming pipes

The single room was adequate but the humming noise during the night was constant. (Old pipe work I assume). Could not sleep. At 1.40 am had to go to reception and ask for another room. This was swiftly done. Cooler room with no noisy humming pipes.

Sunday treat

Staff very friendly and welcoming , room clean and spacious and it was great to have the seperate shower .. Breakfast was spot on . Very close to town and we loved the location .. recommend the Blues Bar . Regularly stay here with my husband or a friend

Fabulous overnight stay. I met a friend for a pre Christmas treat, the staff helped me to surprise my friend and not give the game away that i had paid foe the stay, they helped me keep the cover story that i had used a free stay from hotels.com Have stayed at the cairn many times it is a great location and staff are always amazing.

Lovely hotel close to town with great on site parking. Reception area lovely . Staff on reception were great .The staff waiting on at breakfast , not so great. lots of them but still waited a long time for coffee .I will return to this hotel and hope its better next time .

Not good at all, wouldn’t recommend. Staff don’t seem to care. No friendliness whatsoever and all seem fed up and that they don’t want to be there. Room was ok, very dated, beds nice and comfy but barely any hot water. We all had a very quick cold shower. Wouldn’t bother with food - breakfast was terrible. We did want to eat the evening we arrived but the place was dead - not a single person was booked into the dining area or in the bar/lounge. Not much food left apparently in the kitchen so we didn’t bother. Was looking forward to the breakfast and wish we hadn’t have paid extra for it. Toast cold and more like just bread, wasn’t toasted at all. Not all of the cooked items were available plus my sausage, bacon, fried eggs, beans and grilled tomato were all stone cold. It is obviously all cooked first thing from when breakfast is served from and is just sat there. It was awful. I did say it was cold and the waiter just said sorry. For almost £182 it wasn’t a good experience at all.
