The hotel is in need of some TLC, the decor is tired and dated. The room was clean but one of the towels was still duty, the bath badly stained. The bar / lounge was comfortable but the beer was awful and the bar staff did not know what to do to remedy this. There was only one member of staff there doing reception and the bar. The evening staff was friendly but the day staff was not welcoming and did not ask us if we'd had a good visit or thank us for our custom. The breakfast was poor. The coffee was undrinkable. It was very disappointing and I would not recommend it to anyone. It is disappointing that a reputable site like ebookers would have it on their site. For the price I would have expected more value for my money.

Waste of money

Location: location is great down the road from the train station and main city center.
So check in is at 2 we arrived at 2:15 the chap couldn't find our booking or if we had paid or not anyway a very dull entrance needs a lot of updating. Went up to the room dodging all of the used bedding and rubbish in the hall, only to find the cleaner still cleaning our room, went down to find no other rooms ready this place was dead its a huge hotel and no rooms ready, got told the cleaner would be done in 5 minutes, 25 minutes later after waiting in the hall we went in the room is okay warm and clean bedding had a few marks on it but the bathroom is a state very old and dated mold in the grout bath tub is dirty and the toilet makes so much noise, the side light crackled and the mirror light didn't work and no iron, good job we were out all evening, the next morning we went down to the dining room only us there in total silence, breakfast was £8 extra which was ok but it was poor few items just put on a table the juices and milk not in a fridge some tinned fruit and the coffee was horrible, a grumpy lady came to take our hot food order, i went for the full English it came out very quick so I am assuming it wasn't all fresh my partner ordered it with no tomato and it came with one not a huge deal but just annoying why ask what we wanted, we were left to eat nobody around just a lady hoovering round the table, we checked out no how was your stay nothing overall an amazing property but very poorly run its such a shame not worth £80 at all.
