Basic & In-Need of Improvement

Pros: Reception staff were competent but the decor looked tatty!
Cons: General claenliness - to enter the hotel the guest needed to pass through an outside "smokers' den". Steps at entrance so difficult for luggage.
Location: Non-descript and lacking in attractions.
The room was clean but the main affixed table lacked a piece of veneer on one side - rather disconcerting. Moreover, the entrance to the hotel is shabby and the stairwell not so clean. Walking down the corridor to my room (226) was like entering a fast food restaurant - smell of hot grease. The wing where the room was located - AOK but getting there not so pleasant. The staff were friendly but generally the Travelodge came across more as a "dosser's/one night stand property".
