40th wedding anniversary

I have always wanted to visit Rye after l heard about it on the radio. I was not disappointed. The Ship Inn staff were very welcoming, the food was lovely and also the atmosphere, you felt that the staff were happy in their work. We had our rather large dog with us, who settled quickly to his different surroundings. Also a sausage treat now and then was welcomed. I would definitely stay there again, also so well placed for accessing the town, only downside is parking, we managed each time to find a space where you could park for free. I would highly recommend a stay at the Ship Inn.

Greeted by a very helpful Nicole, who also took dinner order and dealt with dietary requirements. Rooms modern and clean. You have to pay to park but car park is very close. Location very close to the town centre.

Everything is great, walking distance to everything. Parking not super easy given the limited spaces available around the property, and you have to pay for it - around 8 pounds a day.

Friendly staff. Pleasant room. Great find.

Very positive experience. Staff were welcoming, friendly and made me feel at home from the moment that I walked in. I called beforehand to check on something and they were really helpful. The room was pleasantly decorated, nice big tv, very clean and well appointed, with tea, coffee and bottled water. Central location. Dog friendly establishment. This is somewhere that I would definitely recommend and will return to when I'm the area.

Nice Room, Odd Restaurant Experience

The room itself was nice, but the restaurant experience was confusing and frustrating. Service is inconsistent—one side of the restaurant has table service, the other doesn’t, but this wasn’t explained until after we sat down. No food between 10 AM and noon, which was unexpected and inconvenient. The menu tries to be super fancy with dishes that are meant to be comforting, which felt a bit misleading. Ordered carrot soup three times, and it never came—at least they didn’t charge for it. Loved the cider! Overall, the stay was fine, but the restaurant could use clearer communication and better service.

Great stay

Lovely stay on New Year’s Day after working the whole of Christmas. Staff were friendly and professional. Room was lovely and spacious with a comfortable bed and powerful shower. Informative booklet about the winery behind the pub in rooms with useful information about local walks etc. no problems at all

Disappointed No Breakfast

My wife and I stayed for 1 night on NYE. The room was a standard double, which was adequate. However we were disappointed to discover that the £134 room fee did not include any breakfast. As the alternative we went next door for a lovely breakfast to The Old Grain Store, which is definitely to be recommended.

Great Dog-Friendly Break

we had a fantastic break at a reasonable price too. Lovely staff, very good breakfast, gorgeous, well equipped and comfortable room and beautiful decor throughout the inn. Dog welcome in rooms for a reasonable supplement (with extras provided for it too: bowl and welcome kit) and in the pub. Will come back!

I really enjoyed my stay here - beautiful rooms, a great location and it’s a small detail but I really loved the fact that they had small oat milk options with the tea and coffee in the room. Would definitely stay here again.

Great pub, lovely room.

Lovely pub in the heart of the town, nice selection of beers and great food (cooked breakfast was amazing). We had the suite which was amazing, lots of room, comfortable, clean and well decorated. Bed was large and comfortable, only small downside was the pillows were far too soft for my liking, but I guess that's a personal preference. Lack of free parking was a bit of a pain as well, road parking is available but sparse, and car park next door is handy but not the cheapest (about £8 for 4 hours I think).

Good hotel in lovely Rye

Breakfast was amazing, but hotels.cool didn’t give the option of having it included (despite the hotel telling me that they did offer this - for a very reduced rate). Breakfast for 2 came to £40, but would’ve been half that if pre-booked. Shame it wasn’t an option offered to me. Dinner was exceptional, but portion sizes a little smaller than the price suggested, but the quality was great and the food was tasty. The lamb was brilliant, but I should’ve added sides. My room was nice but at 6ft 1 the low beams and uneven floors made it difficult to move around, and made the room feel even smaller than it was. My friend stayed in a different room, and this was lovely and spacious with no awkward low beams.
