A one night stay for us, before catching an early flight from Southend Airport, lovely attentive staff throughout the hotel. We dined in the restaurant which has great views over the airport, the food was equally great. A veey pleasurable but short stay.

The state of the apartment, net curtains was hanging off the window, carpet was dirty with stains bed mattress very lumpy Bath very oily can not get out, very slippy, cannot add pictures as the photo select will not open

Becca who works at reception on the main desk is polite and professional. A fantastic first impression and a major assest to the hotel. The restaurant experience was middle of the road. The chicken Kiev meal arrived and was not as advertised in the menu. I requested a glass of wine twice with my meal and it did not arrive. Overall front of house staff are fantastic. Restaurant staff need to focus more on customers and less on day to day tasks.

Amazing stay, excellent staff. Suite fabulous, really nice touches. It was our wedding anniversary & the reception staff passed this onto the restaurant, went for dinner which was great & had a lovely decorated table & card for us.

We stayed here before and have always been really happy. This time the food in the restaurant was doughy batter on fish for our fish and chips. We raised this with staff and was told they would speak to chef. We had to pay full price and no apology so didn't bother eating in restaurant again. The hotel is well placed, excellent rooms, lovely staff, just the one bad meal.

Booked the suite on the 4th floor well just Fantastic just wish i had been there longer arrived at 8pm left at 5am for flight . Bed was comfortable bathroom was everything you needed plusxall the little extras would love to stay again.

Disappointing!

What was intended to be a sacred celebration of our anniversary was repeatedly disrespected and diminished by the hotel’s service failures and an undeniable atmosphere of exclusion. Specifically: • At check-in, we were incorrectly told our room was paid for — a careless mistake only corrected after I insisted on a second verification. • Our confirmed room booking was questioned and mishandled, causing unnecessary confusion. • Dietary requests were ignored — dairy milk was served after a clear request for almond milk, disregarding health and personal boundaries. • There were repeated micro aggressions and visible discrimination based on both race and sexuality, creating an environment that felt neither safe nor welcoming. . A room attendant opening the door before knocking. • Attempts to order room service were discouraged, adding to a growing sense of being unwanted. • Our room was not cleaned despite requesting service while we were out. • Basic amenities such as the refrigerator were broken and unresolved. This series of disrespectful actions and oversights made it abundantly clear that inclusivity and guest care are not practiced values at Holiday Inn Southend — they are merely advertised ones. It is unacceptable that in 2025, paying guests should have to experience discrimination, gaslighting, and neglect. We deserved better. The establishment failed not only to meet the basic standards of hospitality but failed to honour the dignity of your guests.
