There is no car park for this hotel. We were told ‘ you have to park to come to reception and we will explain where you can park’. On the sea front so we could hear the waves all night, that was nice. Shower was over bath and very poor.

Very disappointing! A bland basic room with ugly curtains & the handle missing off the window so it would not close securely. We were on the top floor that looked old & dirty. Up 2 steep stair cases & there was no lift. My mum is 75 & it was a real struggle for her coming & going. We wouldn’t return or recommend this hotel as it is over priced for how basic it is.

Tradition!

A traditional English seaside hotel with nice ocean views above the town to St Ives (just a short walk downhill). The room was small and neat. Breakfast was also traditonal English.

Dreadful rooms

Nice staff, damp mouldy room initially assigned was in a disgraceful condition. Changed rooms to a similar hut less mouldy room. Bed collapses on one side, only possibly to sleep on one side of it. TV worked. Shower ok.

The room I stayed was very small. And was not very clean . The toilet flash was taking ages to work. Over all for 100£ per night it was not worth it.

Extremely small room, poorly decorated and very dated. This should not be offered as a double room, the bed is barely big enough for two (even with an extremely small partner). Advertised as a sea view room but the amount of bird mess on the windows made it a very unattractive view.

Great view

Lovely view. Good location. Hotel looked a bit tired but the room was clean. Pillows were too plump. Would probably suit most people but too high for me

The rooms were not what they said they were online and the conditions were terrible, the carpet was coming up with stains on it, there were holes and stains on the walls, the window had a crack with duck tape along it and let a lot of wind in too, the bath room had paint coming off and the shower trickled out! The area is amazing but the hotel was pretty crap in all honesty! Definitely not what we saw only or worth the money!

Super location, overlooking the station and Porthminster Beach. Staff were friendly and the bed comfortable. Lots of dining options in St Ives, a short walk away. If you're looking for good value, this is a great option. Breakfast was buffet-style and you could ask for freshly cooked poached or fried eggs if you didn't want them scrambled. Plenty of cereal or tinned fruit options. Coffee was very nice. Would have preferred sightly nicer bread for toast and small pots for jams and marmalades would have been a nice touch. Some of the floors are sloping in the hotel and I was awoken my first night around midnight for an hour while the people in the room above moved around, creaking the floors. I asked the manager if all rooms were like this and he said most likely, yes. He said planning permission had been sought from the council to rectify the works needed at the hotel, but these had been denied so far as it's a listed building. So you can see why the owners are reluctant to invest heavily in cosmetic redecoration in a property that really needs a substantial overall. In the meantime, it needs to fill its rooms at the prices it can. Seems to be able to do that quite well with lots of retirees arriving by coach. I'd happily stay here again, but I wouldn't bring my wife until it's been upgraded.
